Every other year I host a mini-con at my home named in honor of two of my friends that served together in Taji Iraq. Two games this year were built on GHQ Terrain Maker Boards and slightly adjusted for the periods they represent. Both were staged in Russia, one in 1812, the other in 1943. The games took place over 4-8 August week at my home.

Cav Dog and Bill, love the terrain. I need to rework the few boards that I have but that is just the look I will go for.
Thank you.

We played our annual Kursk I Ain't Been Shot Mum game recently. This one was based on action east of Ponyri station on July 8. The Germans have captured the former Soviet positions on 226.5 and are just about to be assaulted by the 3rd Tank Corps.
We had several new players to IABSM with the usual issues. The biggest seems to be the inability to get their heads around a 1/300 ground scale.

A chance to use my Ferdinands at least.

So not much happen AAR wise is seems.

This scenario takes place on the north side of the Danube during a 3 week battle launched by the Soviets to cut the left flank of the units trying to relieve Budapest during Operation Konrad. Elements of the 3rd Pz Div were defending the town of Ipolypaszto against the Sherman late December 1944.
6mm scale and I Ain't Been Shot Mum rules.
It gave me a chance to get out my recently painted H&R winter infantry. A bloody fight but the Germans held on and the Russians never made it into town. Link to flickr site:

Nice pics!

Tough to imagine that taking place in history. Inconclusive battle result to boot...

Highlight pictures from our recent battle. German unit attacking a Soviet defense. Hypothetical in 1943.

There are more pics and commentary in my thread HERE.

Awesome terrain set up as well... 8) 8) 8) 8)

Thank you Doug. It was a good time for sure. We played our first (its only been out for how long?) round of Command Decision v4.1. We have been more into v3 of the game as there are more details to check and keep in line. I believe v4.0-4.1 are more "streamlined" to keep the game moving quicker. I like the details and dont mind keeping track of them but we will see. Will give 4.1 a try.

Thank you on the terrain. I've spent so much time lately on modelling, painting and revamping my inventory that actually playing the game was a nice change. But once you set a board up and play, then you start to see what else you can build for more terrain. I need to build more terrain now. haha

Cheers.

CD as in Test of Battle?
That's a good system for sure. Haven't played it in years and when a guy I know up in my area, we played Hafid Ridge from the CD book Bengahzi Handicap...never finished off the battle due too time, but yeah...it was fun :D

Your welcome on the terrain...looked like it took alot of time to make. I myself had thought about that type of setup, but storage is the issue for me.
