CVN-71 Roosevelt Deck tilt (Fixed)
I just got a CVN-71 Roosevelt. The deck seems to be curved from port to starboard. Is that the design or is it a casting error I should correct? Thanks.

1. Is this curve in the narrower bow section?
2. Well there is a kinda trapazoidal bulge on the port side where the angled flight deck ends and the fly or swim moment occurs on launch...
3. There aren't really many curves in the flight deck profile, everything is pretty angular.
If your ship is in fact curved, my condolences; I'm sure GHQ will make it right and you can make right by the fishes by giving them a massive man-made reef!

Pictures would help in the diagnosis.

I have seen the same thing for the past two years. GHQ needs to redo their mold. The entire port quarter is bent down. Going on two years ago, GHQ agreed they need to redo the mold - but have not yet. For the price of this model, it is not acceptable to have such a problem. Don't bother asking for a replacement, it will be just as bad until they fix the mold

Wow - that one is really messed up. It's not just the deck though - the stern looks terrible. It's either a miscast or that mold is completely shot.
Definitely sent an email to GHQ on it. They'll deal with it. They always do.

Which is why I have stopped collecting modern 1/2400 all together. Too important of a ship type to not have a good model of.33YearsGHQ wrote:The last (4) I have received over the past 2 years have all looked like that. They promised to redo the entire mold, but haven't done it yet.

I just checked my Roosevelt and I have no warp to my model, but I did purchase it 10 years ago.
With my 40 years of experience with GHQ I'm sure they will take care of your problems with any of thier products, no questions asked...Im sure they will have you keep the defunct hull too. Now you have a model you may bash into a CV that was hit by a succesful missile attack.BTW, if you dont want it I will be glad to take it off your hands.

GHQ is great, but they told me the same thing two years ago.whenimaginationfails wrote:I got through to GHQ and they acknowledged that the casting was not up to their standards. They are working on recasting it. I won't quote the timeline for that, but I look forward to the updated casting when it appears.
