Your welcome for giving you credit.. I am all about making sure people get credit for what they do. I am aware of the thread that started this. I am glad that something good came of all it and am enjoying what spawned from it.Fireball wrote:Thank you Hoth
You know it's funny but it all started with "new aircraft carrier" thread where I got ticked off because people got offended because ... We'll have a look at the thread .
Then I thought if we put as much energy into stuff that will actually benefit us we can accomplish a lot.
Thanks for mentioning my input

I'll still stick to my Modern Australians as my first choice.
However if they do get culled for whatever reason - I would vote for a 1950's/1960's Soviet Infantry/ Heavy Weapons pack - as long as it has SA-7s in it it would do me swell
Still, Aussie Infantry, because hey, it's what I want and I am sure someone out there wouldn't mind doing the Irish army as well with those models

We have been watching this, and thought that we would chime in. It looks like this is going well! Everyone has been putting ideas out, discussing them, has been relatively polite and civil...everything that we had hoped for.
Just for clarification, we thought that we would let the debate go on here for about 2 weeks, or until it seems like things have played out. We have never done this before, so we want to get a good feel for how this will go. Once we feel that the suggestion/debate period has run it's course, we will have an actual poll. We tried our practice poll a few weeks ago to see how the polling feature works in this software, and it seems to work well. We will look through all of the suggestions/debate on this thread, and then pull out the items that seem to make the most sense, and get the most support.
We just wanted to step in, and let you know how it is going so far from our point of view.
We hope that you are having a good time with this too. Carry on gents!

Thanks GHQ for trying this.
I'm hoping this continues to go well, and that GHQ does it again for WW2
I'm not a "modern" guy at all, but GHQ did say we could make suggestions.
If I had gone "post-war", it would be BD from the 60's/70's era.
While they had a few teething problems and/or political scandal attached, what I'd ask for are the SPz.11 kurz or the SPz.12 lang (HS-30), especially the latter.
With over 2000 units each and a service history of about 2 decades in a major Nato army, they should meet GHQ's criteria.
The HS 30 was very well armed and armored for its' time, and often seen as the Grandfather of the IFV concept. It saw use until replaced by the Marder.
In addition to the base carrier, there were 81 and 120mm mortar, 106mm recoiless rifle, and even an SS-11 ATR variant, among others.
That leaves plenty of possibilities for GHQ, and for BD collectors/gamers...
My 2 cents, for what it's worth,
Jim R.

@ PanzerGator re; post from 12/16/16 changing vote from M48... to new US AMV. I believe one of the requests/requirements is that there be at least 100 units produced. This one has not met that mark yet to my knowledge.

Thank you, Redleif, you are correct. You caught me leaning forward in the foxhole a bit. I withdraw that nomination and revert my nomination to the M48A1 with aux fuel drum rack.

This is why I vote against the stowage, unless it is modern era specific. This poll was to let the forum members pick a piece of modern kit, not a way for WW2 fans to pick another item for their preferred period. GHQ, please don't allow that to happen. There will be plenty of new WW2 models next year and who knows, possibly polls for other periods, so let's keep this for the fans of modern kit!BurtWolf wrote:I will lobby for stowage, wheels and tracks etc. I think we all can agree the reason we love GHQ's models is because of the detail. The ability to add more detail to our various models would have broad attraction. Adding unique detail also helps (from a few feet up off the table) to distinguish particular units. Selfishly, I like the fact that these could potentially be used across the modern and World War II genres. Plus, depending on how generic, they could be used by all sides.

Hey Sudwund: please tell me how to model a MODERN lump of stuff under a tarp vs a WW II lump of stuff under a tarp or for that matter a Modern jerry can vs a WWII jerry can?
I do understand your wish for something other than a pack of little lumps, bumps and spare road wheels or track links.. I mean road wheels are rather vehicle specific aren't they. Besides that with my eyesight going the way it is....

So the theory is if you want stowage you must be a WWII gamer/collector? Not sure there is any logic there but I certainly can't follow it. But if it will appease you then I change my vote to a pack with one M-113 and lots of external stowage items like modern tarps, modern fuel cans, modern duffel bags, modern crates, modern razor wire rolls, etc.Sudwind wrote:This is why I vote against the stowage, unless it is modern era specific. But whatever you do GHQ don't make WWII external stowage because I don't game WWII battles.
