Hoth, regarding painting. There are a lot of variables to consider. We perceive colors differently, for example, as we age, yellow is not perceived as well. That makes green look different. The lighting for the photo can affect the colors we see, too. The angle, the sunlight on the original, the lighting, both natural and artificial, when you photograph your model are unpredictable.
I don't worry about "scale" color. How can you really figure that out? Dirt, dust, rain, age, all affect the vehicle in real life. Just get it close and you are done.
The vehicles on the right looked more accurate, but actually, since they are headed in opposite directions, for all I can tell, they are the same vehicles, the perception affected by the light angle.

For clarity, the vehicles are painted in two sets of three with the dividing line down the center. I think I should have put a bigger space between them.
The photo, I posted, in this thread proves your point. The vehicles on the left look to have a grayish green color for the base coat, where the lead vehicle on the right three vehicles has a deeper green tint. Funny, because all the vehicles were painted using the same color and same mixture. They were airbrushed in the same batch.
While I do understand the effects the lighting and condition of the paint or vehicle might play on the photo, if I am trying to match the tint I see, it should not be hard. Understanding that the Out of Bottle (OOB) might need some mixing to get it to look like the one in a photo... My biggest hart burn was with the brown.. It just does not seem like I can get it matched to something I like.. The vehicles on the left seem to have a red tint and the ones on the right seem a little light.
Any way, I know I am being too over the top and that is why I stated earlier, I post. Its so the community at large can provide feedback to temper my obsessiveness. Overall, I like the way they look.. I sometimes get wrapped around the axel over stuff.
Thanks all for your feedback and helping me temper my obsessiveness.
