The new M114 155mm photo is posted. Not much different than the WWII towed 155mm - just comes in firing and towed configuration. The pack comes with M35's for towing - but these were not used, 5 ton or larger trucks were normally used to tow these 155mm's. Max towing capacity on hard roads is 10,000 pounds max - the M114 weighed over 12,000 pounds. Finally the photo shows the gun chassis/trails to be way too big compared to the trucks - but this may be an optical illusion.

Can this be used for WWII and would it update GHQ's other 155mm WWII howitzer which really needs a new model?

Should work just fine as a WWII 155mm

Per wikipedia it entered service in 42,, Looks like a WWII to contemporary modern artillery piece to me. Cool!

GHQ's N-599, M114 155 mm howitzer, will do fine for WWII. The moldings appear to be better than the old US 10 (M1 155 mm howitzer, deployed) and US 80 (M1 155 mm howitzer, limbered with M5 fully-tracked prime mover).

However, the M35 2 1/2-ton prime movers are not appropriate (the M35 was not introduced until the 1950s and a 2 1/2-ton prime mover is really too light for the M114).

I think more appropriate prime movers are the Tractor, High-speed, 13-ton M5 (in US 80) or the Diamond T 4-ton model 6x6 truck (UK 94).

Okay then, I will get some of these to fill out my WWII American Artillery. I have some of the M-5 High Speed Tractors already.

Perhaps GHQ can just add this model into their existing 155 artillery packs for WWII and retire the old models. They have done it before.
