Hoth's vehicle wish list

Post by Hoth_902 »

Stumbled upon this Leopard by accident when looking through model magazines in the local hobby store. Looked it up and found the picture below.

Image

Did a little research and it appears to be a 1A4 that had a 1A5 turret attached to it with some added on armor. From what I read, it fought in Afghanistan after 9/11 to dislodge the Taliban from that country. I think it looks pretty cool. I love vehicles with Unique appearances. This one certainly fits the bill. Think it would be great for the next release.

That is a Canadian Leopard that was used in Afghanistan.

I remember this video from years ago, 10 years, maybe a few more. Like the up-armored Leopard 1. Thank you for posting again. I was hoping that GHQ would have produced the up-armored Leopard 2A4.

They where Canadian Leopard 1 Bodies with turrets purchased from Australia about 10 to 12 years ago. I have a brother in law in the the Canadian Army that worked on the upgrade.

I have nearly 60 examples of this tank made by inservice miniatures.
Got them thru direct buying back in the 90s and luckily on eBay.

GHQ has Challenger 2 with add-on armor.
I will have to show you my Panther M10 for the US.
I will have to show you my M2A3 without the ERA.
Not sure if I have any GHQ@ Sheridans without the M.G. bucket any more, but will look.
I will send to you pic of Patriot.

chrissswim,

Hmm.. not really sure how to designate the Challenger II, that I am refering too, so people are not confused with the one that is currently produced by GHQ. Please look at the page below.

http://www.ghqmodels.com/forum/viewtopi ... 70bbf7070d

The one currently produced by GHQ is the standard Challenger II and the TES. While I will be purchasing some TES'es, I really would like the one in between the standard and the TES. Since I know that GHQ produces the Standard and the TES, that is why this is a wish list.

As for the others, I would love to see pics of your stuff.. or wait.. maybe soon I can see them in person. :D

Regarding the 1990 M60s. The Marines took M60A1s with add-on armor, but drew M1A1s, I believe, before battle. The Army's 197th Brigade took M60A3s, but again, I THINK they were also replaced. Egyptians had M60A3s, as well. This is all according to what I have READ. Those with direct experience may know different and better. And I am writing without my references handy.

Panzer,

I know I have a book somewhere that identifies the M60 being used by the marines. Sadly its in storage till my move is complete. I am also sure I have watched some documentaries on the war where they stated that the marines were still using the M60s. On the Arm Chair general forum, someone states the marine tanks were as follows.

1st Battalion with M60A1s
2nd Battalion with M60A3s
4th Battalion with M1A1s
8th Battalion with M60A1s

I know that forum is not the authority by any means. I am going to have to do some digging on the internet to find a reliable source for my belief.
