What's the best way to apply decals.
The way i do it is to soak then in decal solution then apply to a desired spot and then hit the model with dull coat.
But sometimes specially the triangle british platoon markings will curl up.

Although you didn't ask me I believe you should put down a layer of gloss coat on the spot you wish to put the decal. Gloss has a very smooth finish. Matte, including paint has a rough texture. The gloss allows the decal to fully hug the model or at least the gloss coasting

I use Troy Ritter's method: glue 'em on :)

But using a very small amount of glue.

In this instance I :
soak the decal in water,
while the decal is soaking dip a small brush (size 00) in white wood glue,
then dip the brush in water to water the glue down (usually the same saucer the decal is in),
let the water go milky,
then apply the really watered down wood glue / milky water onto the model where the decal is going to go,
apply the decal.

The wood glue helps the decal stick and when watered down enough doesn't leave a residue.

It's now my preferred method for applying decals.

Hope this helps,

B
