Some great looking tanks here.

Dan, I was to drive 175Km tomorrow to pick up......yep Enigma's.
I was going to add them to Sheik Yer Bouti's rag tag army. I will have to come up with a plan B now.
Wonderful job on an interesting T55 upgrade.
Mick.

Off to google 3rd World Armies again.

Mick, nothing stopping you from getting Yer Bouti in gear. I have another pack that will round out my enigma company for my Iraqi hodge podge tank BN.

Hoth,

Thank you for the kind words, I see some of the painting which are posted and it blows me away. The process was, prime with Rustoleum 2x coverage satin white, Base coat of Model Master Acrylic Deck Tan (now apparently out of stock), Tracks Vallejo Chocolate Brown, Odd spots like the light sets and sights Vallejo field green. Wash was Daller Rowney Burnt Umber Acrylic ink from Hobby Lobby (it was in the drawing section where the pens are), it was 1 /30 ratio roughly and slopped on with some tamping to get the big pools off at the end.

The aux fuel tanks was just a diluted paint, red was Testor enamel. I put a squirt of acetone and then a loaded brush of paint, the acetone began breaking down the paint to almost a wash and then tapped it on the tanks. The green and blue tanks were acrylic paints and using water in place of the acetone for the same process.
All the best,
Dan

Sneaky Pete,

No thanks is needed, when I see a good job I let people know. Your T-55 enigmas look really good. I have a container of Burnt Umber just itching to get used. Looks like it will be time to put it to use. Also, thanks for sharing what you did. I am going to put some of your method to use.

I would also agree that there are a lot of really amazing work done with GHQ stuff. This thread has slowly started showing some of that again. I love seeing all the different interpretations of the same paints schemes or different ones. It really inspires me to do more work.

Last day of the month so one last tank pic. These tanks belong to my daughter - the pink one is Princess Aurora's tank and the other one is either a cow tank or a dalmatian tank. I'm really not sure which.

She has big plans for my fleet of surplus tanks. Eventually we will have one for each Disney princess. I can hardly wait.

OK so I did not pick up the Enigma's last week but almost certain to add them in the near future.
I decided to clean up some older Type 69 II, also tried light wash and highlight a little.

This started a bit of a junk box clean out which has added to Sheik Yer-Bouti's Army considerably.
Ended up with a base coat on another 40 or so items, so January's paint a MBT worked for me all be it in a unplanned way.

Cav Dog,

Well done on your entry. Looks really good. Question, what color did you use on your tracks?

Again, special thanks to 7.62 for the idea and continues creation of the monthly subject idea. In addition, thanks to everyone that participated. Now I just have to get off my lazy butox and finish something so i can participate.

May I have a mulligan for messing around with MERDC on an M1?

Image

Although I have never seen an actual M1 in a MERDC scheme. They were all either plain forest green, sand or NATO. three tone.

@ Hoth - tracks on those Shermans were painted Vallejo Panzer Aces track primer and then washed with a custom mixed and heavily diluted wash that was a 3:2 ratio of Vallejo Model Wash of brown and black.
