February is paint a GHQ Soft-skin Month.

Post by 7.62 »

Did you know that February is paint a GHQ Soft-skin (wheeled, tracked, or half-track) Month?
Neither did I but they made me do it.

So paint up a fine GHQ produced Soft skin bit of kit in your finest colours.
Buy a new one or make a dent in the pewter mountain you already have. Strip and repaint an old one.
It could be a civil one if you wish or go overboard with a multi coloured military camo scheme.

Historical or Imaginary, it does not matter just paint one, let the games begin!

I was just thinking this could be a very wide subject this Month.

Now is a Donkey a Soft skin or Thick skin?

I hope they unlimber the 120mm mortar first.

Id say soft-skin, but hard head. So they are both out there hauling some a$$-ets.

Definitely meets the intent. However they don't meet the criterion of "wheeled, tracked, or half-track"

I believe they meet the criteria for "soft-skin". And I have seen donkey tracks. In fact, if you ever visit the Grand Canyon you'll see donkey tracks all over the place. And they leave behind ... well I don't think they're called donkey wheels, but after a day or two in the sun you can roll 'em right down the road if you really want to.

But ... um ... dontcha' gotta PAINT 'em to meet the OP?

Here is my submission for the soft skins. GHQ pack TW-7 Toyota Truck with MG.

The line up

Image
Guy on the left is a 300 scale architecture model figure I got from Amazon and the right is Third World AK fighter from GHQ. I trimmed off the back pack, base and weapon from his hands. I think the 300 scale looks better.
Image
The rocket pod is from the GHQ MI-8/17 kit. I trimmed the MG off the tripod and slapped the rocket on, I have seen this configuration from pics of Iraq, Libya and Syria.

This crew looks ready to rough somebody up. Can't wait to see everyone elses submissions.

Painted a bunch of Opel Blitz trucks for DAK as well as early war, added some bells and whistles just to make them a little more interesting:

As well as smaller Ster trucks:

Cavdog,
its time to sent those jeeps against the enemy logistics trucks. They all look really good.

Burtwolf,
Nicely done trucks. I like the color schemes on them, they look ready for action.

I am thinking that I need to add some sort of K9 to my user name too, Sneaky Poodle Pete perhaps?

Burtwolf, I don't know how to change image size on imageshack using any mobile device, although I don't have their app. Maybe you can change the settings in the app?

On a computer though, you can change the image size by clicking on the picture and then on get links. When the get links window opens you can change the size as well as pick the type of link you need.

I hope this helps.

Great work all round folks. Remember this is just about you enjoying your hobby.
No need to post photos really (I know the issues there) just hopefully a way to do a little of something every Month.

It works for me even if I do get a bit sidelined now and then.
