Local group has been getting into '84 Cold War. Here is my stab at MERDC.

I don't normally base vehicles, but these are starting to grow on me. It also makes it easier to see them on the terrains as I get older.

In addition to the Mech Infantry Company, I have a Soviet BTR-60 Battalion less the Battalion HQ APC.

The entire battalion.


2 Companies on maneuvers.


Company Command APC with PIN Stick Antenna.




The last was a pretty easy conversion. Just .012" steel rod and crazy glue at the tip. I'm working on the battalion APC with the frame antenna, and the APU. Hope to have it done in a month.

Paul: Good looking vehicles and nice job with the MERDC camo. I find this a challenging pattern, but if done well (as yours) it stands out. I'm currently working on a US mech company myself circa 1976 at one -to-one, including the support vehicles. Have a a way to go yet before completed.

Really like the work on the vehicles. It's the kind of effort usually seen in larger scales. I also am curious about the paint and colors. It looks like what I used to get from Humbrol.

On the other hand, let's talk about this those wild shoes you're wearing...

Begemot those are some very nice looking aircraft. Having done a few myself, I know they take a lot of work to look good and yours certainly do. I love the intricate camo patterns on the German aircraft.

Paul B your Merdic pattern looks great as do the BTR 60s. I will be doing some European Cold War vehicles eventually so it is nice to see what others are doing.

Is '84 Cold War a rules set?

chrisswim and panzergator - I used Dog Smack's recommendations, from the Vallejo Model Color line

95 US Dark Green
142 US Field Drab
124 Iraqi Sand
167 German Grey

I airbrushed the Field Drab as the base coat. Applied the others with a brush. Drybrushed with buff, after a pin wash of MIG neutral wash. Vallejo gloss varnish and then flat to seal.

This was applied over a white primer (Badger airbrush primer).

Antennas were monofilament thread, darkened with a black sharpie.

Pete - " '84 Cold War" is the period we are focusing on. Going to try a number of rules Challenger I/II, Combined Arms, maybe even TACFORCE.

'gator - I had just gotten back from playing adult indoor soccer league with my son when I took the pictures. The shoes are my addidas Messi indoor flats. I think I want to try painting that pattern on an nscale 944 for Car Wars.
