Cav Dog,
First, why do you hate painting wheels? Crazy you say.... But as you know it makes it look so very nice.
Great looking BTR-80A and very nice looking terrain and buildings. They go great together.

Brilliant Cav Dog, nice looking terrain too.
I'm with you on the wheels. I have 30 odd BTR's lacking rubber at the moment, heaven knows how many 4x4 and trucks.

Thanks for the comments.

I'm working on finishing up the associated infantry companies. I have a 2S6 section painted and am debating whether these guys merit any assets from the regimental anti tank company.

Cav Dog,

That is some incredible work. Makes me want to finish up my vehicles. I too hate painting tires. Keep sharing.

I too hate painting tires.
Tires don't stress me too much. My own technique relies on re-painting the wheel hub after painting the tires. I find it easier to paint a nice round outer edge (to the hub) than inner edge (to the tire). For the round outer edge it's really just a drop of paint, in the right dilution, in the right place.
ROADWHEELS!!! I HATE PAINTING TANK ROADWHEELS!!!
I gave up on tank roadwheels long ago. I do freely admit that I admire microarmor with painted roadwheels, but I just can't do that level of detail well enough.

To make up for it I just go heavy on the weathering of the running gear. Looking at tanks in the field, I find that the roadwheels are mostly obscured by dirt, mud and rust in most cases anyway.

For me the stress factor is painting the tracks on tanks. I am still committed to painting tracks, including the outside surface, the edges, and the inside surface. The edge of the upper run can be a bit of a hassle, but it's that inside surface, between the roadwheels, that stresses me the most.

Makes painting tires on wheeled vehicles almost a relaxing process by comparison.

Oh, and BTW -- NICE JOB Cav! Some lovely BTRs, and the scenery is pretty alright too!

CavDog,

What color did you use for your buildings.. I am laboring over what color I should use. I am an add duck when it comes to picking colors.. I get all Wrapped around the axle and then I don't paint anything.

First painting

Post by abe0087 »

Hi i'm rookie from South Korea. This is my first painting actually, local game club guys gave me some tips. I mostly use Tamiya Acrylic color with air brush. Finish with Panel liner and lighter oil.
