We have a very effective anti-drone system. You will only lose your money. And your drone.
How do you think the U.S. will feel about CofC penetrating their airspace looong before a drone gets to GS? An act of war? The GS has an agreement with US allowing the engagement of approaching drones. As for your tracked drones, go ahead. Violate US territory. Gonna invade? How will you get here?

Your next problem? Just exactly where is the Gator State? Is it where Fatusa landed?

We would not have used nuclear mines had we not contingencies to protect our population.

We are not interested in trade, territorial acquisition, or global influence. Just leave us alone.

You guys are like cow patties in a minefield. They're everywhere, and a nuisance, but nothing serious. The Gator State is determined to maintain its sovereignty, freedom, and independence.

Brazil
the HMCS Canada has departed from Rio to Mauritania in order to bring its navy jet fighters to the scene, however the RCN's own administration still wants a fleet presence in Brazil so the Supercarrier will have to travel to the North African country alone thinking that her fighters will temporarily provide escort during the trip, she will link up with a RCN naval squadron already in Senegal to began ground attack operations.

"Cow paddies in a minefield", how interesting the observation from GS.
.
Mauritania
Moving further to the coast, 209 miles closer. Several cars heading east on the highway getting away from the trails and tribulation. Questioning some of those heading east on Hwy 14 said that rebels are shooting people without reason. It is said that some are target being loyal to the Commonwealth. Several dozen cars being stopped, sometime a member being taken. At times they were taken and eliminated.
. Drones and helicopters are out front of the column. Observed more civilians following along the highway away from the capital toward our column. Many did not have anything except the clothes on their back. We were able to help them with medicinal solutions.
. the convoy advanced to about 40 miles from the capital, Nouakchott. Observed a couple of groups of the militia which then headed west upon the approach of the military convoy.

Above the Capital of Nouakchott

(CF4F Wildcat Pilot): "Hey got some activity below looks like helicopters flying over what looks like a caravan moving outside the city".

(Squadron leader): "is the helicopter from the CofC or Rebels?"

(CF4F Wildcat Pilot): "I cannot tell, probably a Rebel MI-24 Hind im not sure?"

(Squadron leader): "This could pose a danger for the people below, take it out. then we fly back to the Carrier our recon job is done here."

(CF4F Wildcat Pilot): "Rodger."

The CF4F wildcat dives down to take out the suspected rebel helicopter and opens fire on it with its 6 50 cal machine guns busting the tail off causing it to spin out of control and crashing on to the highway below.

Mech. I think this would be on your Sqdn leaders plate.
The CF4 pilot clearly said he could not identify the heli, "he was not sure".
S/L gave the order to shoot down an unknown target. Not saying that will not happen but it can be a block to future promotion in some units.

Im more worried about the severe political implications as a result of this accidental case of friendly fire. As Canada is trying to be a force for peace but lately we keep running into cases of just plain bad luck.

The Nabob has sent out there Sea king helicopters on a search and rescue mission to recover the crew and passengers of the crashed UIN helicopter in Mauritania's Capital.

The Canadian army troops that where deployed in Sengel has now crossed the border into the county, they will try to rendezvous with the CofC forces in the capital.

The supercarrier HMCS Canada will arrive near the navy squadron in two days tops under full speed, her fighters have been performing round the clock protection to ensure the ships safety.

Mauritania
The CoC task force, known as Task Force Mary, is at least 1 day if not 2 days from entering the capital. As most of the population is along or near the coast, the Canadian forces will probably run into a more difficult path with more prolonged en devour with resistance. The CoC forces will have some issues. Expect to have some fighting in the town and/or villages we enter and pass through. Hence the Ratels and the few Rooikats. 2 dozen Rooikats are being send from Nigeria-dom. Expect those tomorrow, will need to evaluate the vehicles for any service issues.
. The drones have detected some armed men east of Nouakchott in villages and towns. Moving out as the sun is getting higher in the sky and very hot. Hoping that the resistance will 'melt away'.
. Predator C drone detected a group of pick-ups, the 2nd and 4th are gun trucks with HMG, the 3rd had a recoiless rifle. Authorization took 8 minutes to clear to fire on the weaponized pick-ups. The Predator carries two hellfire missiles, the first was fired and hit the 2nd pick up, destroying it and killing the 4 occupants. The other missile was fired at the lead vehicle, just missing the truck, a splinter from the Hellfire missile that flew into his throat severing wind pipe and artery. He lasted seconds..... The Predator continued to reconnoiter. Task Force Mary was still 15 miles away from the targets.

Former Mauritaniadom.
Air Yer bouti has suspended all flights to and from the capital. The last flight out this morning a boeing 727 combi was full, extra people instead of cargo with over 220 counted on arrival in Yer Bouti City. Small arms damage to the aircraft was also noticed.

Five or six factions are fighting for control within the city, the airport area is hotly contested and very hostile to all outsiders. All the different factions seem to have pockets of support around the country but they are over a wide area with no one group in control.
It is very much a patchwork of rival interests. None have the edge with equipment, all have access to older MBT ‘s and small arms aplenty.
With their local support and no big formations to hit from the air, if you want to make a difference you will need to put boots on the ground or back/support one of factions.

From what is know of the groups :
1. Rebels (anti everyone)
2. Al-Kabab
3. CofC supporters
4. Yer Bouti supporters *
5. Whirling Spindizzy’s (National interest only)
6. TBD **Uncontested**

Yer Bouti is offering medical aid/food (selectively)

*Some are calling them the "martyrs du pantalon en velours côtelé brun" to others they are the "Martyrs of the brown corduroy trousers".[

One group attacking another group, it's a mess out there.

If anyone wishes to claim apart of the capital city or countryside please feel free.
You will need.
A few figures, a bit of old card or pink foam etc.
A knife, a glue stick and a $1 bottle of Michaels Tan paint.
That way if no one ever meets the photos can look the same.

After that you can go wild or keep it simple.
I'm going to take a bit of real estate (need them for YB city anyway)
"Martyrs of the brown corduroy trousers" are going to set up to defend their neighborhood in the capital.

The Canadian army has claimed a chunk of Nouakchott's main sea port to which they named it, Maple Leaf landing, with it Canada will be able to ferry more troops and supplies into Mauritania.
Image

The RCN navy squadron is already steaming to Nouakchott right now in order to commence Ship to shore bombardment on rebel held areas of the city, they will have a firing solution on those area within a day at least.

Very nice Mech, let's call that last group in the city uncontested.
Be careful with your armour this is an urban setting, a city of about a one million people. The tanks will need lots of support or they will get taken out!
Baby steps, do not try and fight the whole city by yourself until you know what you are walking into..

Before you commence ship to shore bombardment on rebel held areas remember that innocent folks live there too. Just because they are rebel controlled will not mean they are all rebels!
You will need good intel and recce (or maybe not).
If you fire into another area they might fire back.
If you fire on the Martyrs of the brown corduroy trousers area, they will fire back (do they have anti ship weapons?).

Good start, play safe people will need access to a port.
