Im sorry but the port is closed to all civilian traffic, only Royal Canadian Navys ships are allowed in and out of the port to ensure that we can get our supply's in from home easily.

Meanwhile in Arafat, the Canadian Armored column and MLF forces came under fire from Al-Kabab forces who are controlling the north parts of the city near Elmina, one Leopard 2 tank had its tracks blown off from a roadside IED, while the Canadian infantry behind it dived to cover as they where getting mowed down by HMG emplacements, while the LAVs began covering fire with its main gun showering the militant emplacements with 30mm cannon fire, the firefight lasted for about 2 hours before the Canadians and MLF forces retreated back to Elmina as they where taking heavy casualties by AL-Kabab reinforcements and the unexpected appearance of Fatsuas Rebels that caused a three way firefight. Hopefully once the Super Carrier arrives it can level the playing field.

"Im sorry but the port is closed to all civilian traffic, only Royal Canadian Navys ships are allowed in and out of the port to ensure that we can get our supply's in from home easily".

This was the official response given to the senior member of the UIN convoy by the top Canadian Army officer in the city today.
The UIN convoy had made their way to the port seeking safety after coming under fire from different groups across the city.
While the officers talked at the gates of the port the convoy came under repeated tear gas fire and the order was given to retreat back in to the hostile city.
The UIN convoy with all the UIN staff slowly made their way back to the hospital in the West of the city just North of Elmina

Al-Kabab and other rebel groups are quickly spreading the word around the city that Canada is blockading all food in to the city,

As darkness falls the port area comes under poorly aimed artillery and rocket fire from the city center.

(Canadian Commander): "oh crap, get that Damned port open let the UIN staff out get them out, GET THEM OUT NOW!!!!

The Canadians quickly open the port to get the UIN staff out of the city the forces there will keep AL-Kabab at bay until the UIN is out of the city.

the Commander quickly apologized, saying that his original orders was to hold the port to prevent AL-Kabab from escaping, we where not aware that the UIN has a huge presence in the city.

Nouakchott, Mauritania
Radio communication over secure channel to joint military group...."To Canadian force, is the port that you are wanting secure in St Louis on the southern border of Mauritania or the port at Nouakchott. You are welcome to control the harbor at Nouakchott. I have a feeling that some of the various groups might have a say or a joint say in your quest. If the harbor in St. Louis, well... the Harbor Capt will have a say in that. If he has a say in that and not followed then the coast guard and police might have a say. If there is still a problem, then the Military active duty, then Reserves and Guard units might have a say. If there is still a problem, then the military forces of the Commonwealth may have a say. .
. If Canadian forces are want to continue using the port at St Louis, they are welcome to do so. The coast guard and Harbor operations know to give you priority dock-age, ingress & egress. Hopefully, your representative just got mixed up on the ports, he might be in Ottawa making comments without regard and knowledge of the events in Mauritania.
.
Task Force Mary, under Operation Flex, is moving forward on the service road adjacent to Hwy 14. Trucks have brought up supplies to feed and care fore the refugees from Mauritania. Inspections are taking place to confiscate weapons and question the occupants of the automobiles and those walking.
. Another engagement with some of the forces, an OH-6 approached from the west. It did not have the daily IFF code. After calling out to the daily channel and the general radio channel an Avenger fired a SAM - Stinger at the OH-6 as it was approaching. The missile hit about 1.5 miles away, it crashed in field used for farming. As it landed, a group of 2 Ratel 2-35s moved forward along with 3 AML-90 and 4 Ratel 20 with infantry. To rescue the crew and/or recover the crew along with gathering information.
. It was determined that the OH-6 had a .50 cal on the side, their intent was to harm us and the crew was calling in report. 12 minutes later, some mortar rounds fell about 400 meters from where a few of our vehicles had been located earlier.

The useage of the port of St Louis in Senegal was only temporary to deploy our initial ground forces into Mauritania to which we thank the people there for there help, one in the country we move into Nouakchott's port(to which we call it Maple leaf Landing) to deny Al-Kabab or Fatsua's Rebels the chance of using that port to launch attacks on shipping, and since its closer to the combat area we used it as a beachhead to bring in reinforcements in a effective manner. Sorry if we caused some confusion but that was the plan.

If you want us to leave our foothold, we will do that.

The City.
The UIN convoy will attempt to run the gauntlet back to the port area this afternoon. Many diplomats and foreign nationals have attached themselves to the wagon train to escape the city, The Canadians should expect 7-800 minimum.

YB is sending a large ferry down the coast, it should arrive late this evening. It will require access to the deep port for loading but can take a few thousand at a time out of the area.

Mauritania
From the shore the ferry is spotted by some men, cell phone calls made. 3 miles further south some men are moving quickly, cussing and kicking some a few dozen men to move, to get in the truck, to hook up the towed 122mm howitzers. Only two are hooked up and 3 trucks drive to the shoreline. Setting up as the ferry is in sight a bit to the north of their position.
The commander, Major Smuts, is looking for his ranging device, unable to find it. "HE, load, HE, load, ready", elevate gun A, aim just in front of the bow. gun 2, watch and pay attention. Gun 1 fire!!!"...... splashes short of the ferry, which is now due west of the 2 gun section,
"Aim for 7 Km Gun B elevate, FIRE!!" splash just to the stern, possibly short.
:Gun 1, elevate lead the ferry. It is turning out to deeper water increasing distance to shore. Fire". Splash to the bow as it was turning.
Ferry Capt, "YB HQ, the Ferry, Yer Bouti Ferry IV more, we are being fired on from shore. The shots are getting closer, Help!!!! Help us!! Guns are firing on us..." Splash to port bow.
"Can we get any more speed than 15 knots?" "Capt, we are at 17 knots."
"10 km from shore and estimate, 12 km from the guns." reported navigator.
"Both guns, HE, aim.... raise the barrels, fire!" one splash to port and HE explosion on starboard superstucture above the main deck, killing 2 crewmen and wounding 4 more. Smoke coming out of the starboard utility closet.
........
15 km from the battery. as some shots splash to port and stern of the ferry for the next 4 minutes.
Operations officer reporting to Capt, "Capt, leak in hull, starboard side near the stern, pumps are on. As of now, we are able to control the water level . I do recommend we head south since we are twice as far out from shore as when we started."
Capt, "make it so helm, head south, keep us 13 km from shore until we get to Nouakchott Harbor. Communication, let them know we have been hit, damaged, several killed and others wounded. Keep me informed of any changes, I'm taking radio down to evaluate the damage and causalities."

Ferry North of Nouakchott.
The Captain returns to the bridge" We are good for now , heading 310 best speed. get us away from the coast."
The onboard Army medical teams tend to the wounded. A call to YB is put out for a Casevac for two as soon as in range.

The Captain is joined by three men on the wing of the bridge, all are in civilian clothes.
"I'm not putting this great white whale in to that port, we will never sail out again, the whole city is within range of the only pier there."
"Very well captain, the UIN will have to wait, get yourself and the ship back to YB waters. My friends and I will make other arrangements. That coast is by Sabkha is it not?"
"Yes I think it is"
"MLF Country".

Ferry North of Nouakchott.
At first light the ferry heading North comes to a stop 20 miles off the coast.
A YB Chinook comes in to a hover over the rear deck. Two causalities are carefully winched up.
At the same time two small inflatables leave the port side with five people in each.
The men quickly join the waiting Conqueror Class Submarine that has surfaced.

The Chinook departs North heading to the main YB city hospital.
The crew on the sub stow the inflatables, the men are welcomed and go below deck.
The ferry picks up speed and continues to limp back to Yer Bouti waters.
The sub dives.

Mauritania
For day the Commonwealth has been routing Merkava 1, and Merkava IV along with Centurion APC and Namer. The Ratels are effective in their ability to fire to eliminate a risk of infantry, but after their initial shot, The Rooikat 35 are highly effective with the firepower, but against ATGM they do not hold up well. For 3 days Merkava 1 and Centurion APC have been coming from Tunisadom, arriving yesterday. Merkava IV and Namers from another base in Tunis, Tunisadom. Expected to arrive, then the truck transport for 250 miles. Support equipment, with parts, extra armor and the logistics needed are in the transport groups.
. There are 4 companies of UAV Unmanned armored vehicles, wheeled and tracked on the way to Nouakchott and 2 companies of drones to support the infantry and armor in urban areas for intel and targeting.
. The plan is since the Merkava 1 and Centurion APC are already being rolled off the tank haulers, to to start the heavy armor advance. Then as the heavier armored vehicles arrive the advance should be closer to or on the edge of Nouakchott for the terminal push if the assault is called for. The issue is there is not enough heavy armor for an assault if it is facing heavy resistance. Assaulting of urban areas is extremely difficult, takes sacrifice and lives and bodies. The hope is that most of the people are not active in any of the gangs in Nouakchott.

Canadian army forces now reinforced began there march back into the city to deal with the rebel groups and AL-Kabab in the Arafat area where they suffered heavy losses couple of days ago, now with Sherman Badger Flamethrower tanks among there ranks it will make clearing the streets of these militants much easier.
Meanwhile at Maple Leaf Landing the MV Yellowhead trail has got there hands full dealing with the UIN Staff as they desperately board the freighter as the loading area became overcrowd the Canadian army personal are currently handling the influx of people.

Nouakchott
Mortar rounds fired for 4 tubes, 3 rounds each from Arafat area into the harbor, hitting the MV Yellowhead twice, the large cargo buildings, the docks, and a bail bond office and 3 rounds in the harbor itself.
.. the guys then broke the mortars down and scurried away.
