One day, 95,000 troops. Next day, 45,000 troops. Just beamed 50,000 troops home, didja? "Convenience" isn't a combat multiplier.
The possessive is "their," as In "THEIR M577." Not "there M577. "
I am going back to my book and waiting for the new list.

The gunner of the Type 69 fires......just as the tank is rammed on the rear left by one of the rushing Leopards.
Just enough, the round fly's by the M577 by inches. The ensuing melee is bloody and close but the element of surprise has been lost (only just). One AML makes it out down a smaller alley.
You got lucky Mech, that is how it happens sometimes.

T.zeina Canadian zone
(M557 driver): (shell fly's by) "Jezz that was close"
The Canadian army in the forward base cheered as they thwarted a Brown Trousers attack on a M557, one the base has been heavily fortified, they will push forward into the T.zeina to secure the whole area, then afterwards is on to the Ksar area to drive the BT off once and for all.

As the K-nuk Army in their forward base come out to cheer and celebrate the victory over the BT attack, the commanders do a little jig. More of the officers join in. Progress at last.
The dancing is interrupted by a faint buzz that is hard to place.
One of them looks up. Over the building from the North just 20 meters off the ground. Right over the crowd.

Round 2 begins.

I don't know about this one Mech. One single drone, very little reaction time.
Watch the video again. I think the guy at the mike is about to say " O **** it" but runs out of time.
It is not a swarm attack to guarantee a hit on a strategic target like the oil tanks from the other day. More of a surprise hi value anti personnel strike from left field.
We might need an umpire to call this.

Not sure who you had in mind for an umpire, but here is my input: a drone flying fast at rooftop altitude would leave you no time to react. You're in an urban environment, so you wouldn't even have line of sight until it cleared the building closest to you, and since you are sitting in the street you would see the drone just a split second before it detonated.
Maybe if you are in a clearing or a more defensible area with better line of sight you could engage a drone (hint hint).

Since I'm heckling anyway, let me ask this question of Canada: who are these guys that are attacking into the city? Is this a battalion? Regiment? Brigade? Division? I ask because the size and type of unit will determine to some extent what your command post looks like. I don't know Canadian doctrine, but in the US you would have a main command post, a forward command post, and a rear command post at most levels. Since you only mentioned a single M577 I imagined a lone command post carrier sitting in the street.

The size of the unit stationed in the occupied t.zeina area is
9000 infantry
80 Leapord 2 tanks
100 LAV IIIs
70 M151 MUTTs
and 1 M557
Most of the Command for the whole operation is located in the Maple leaf landing, but Canadian officers are known to drive to the frontlines in M557s as a way of observing the Battlefeild, and as a symbol of there status to the troops.

Maple Leaf Landing.
[quote=" officers are known to drive to the frontlines in M557s as a way of observing the Battlefeild, and as a symbol of there status to the troops.[/quote]
The gate guards see the fast approaching LAV type and command M577.
The LAV is flashing its headlights, sounding it horn to Oh Canada.
This must be important!! The M577 must mean really important......

The barrier is pulled back and the K-nuk smartly salutes as a sign of respect
The LAV is driven to what has been identifed to be the Comms center.
At the same time the M577 accelerates in to the front doors of the large office building where the other M577 always park.

Both contain just over a ton each plus 500lbs of nuts, bolts and washers.
The twin VBIED go off.
There has never been any recorded history of the Brown Trousers using suicide weapons. It is against their nature, the do not do funny vests or ruin good running cars.
This must be Al Kabab.

Maple Leaf Landing
Everyone at the base dived for cover following the two VBIEDS explosions, afterwards the soliders stationed there all grabbed what ever extinguishers they could find to put out the fire from the explosion.
At the docks the Base Commander was doing a check list of supplies when he heard the explosion and saw smoke coming from the front gates, he immediately jumped into his jeep and raced to the scene to find a lot of damaged buildings soliders putting out fires, medics picking up the injured and piles of body bags.
(Base Commander): "What the hell just happened here?"
(Canadian Sergent): "Two IED s went off sir they where in the M557s that came in from the front gate, looks like an AL-Kabab attack sir."
(Base Commander): "But how?"

*** EDIT
Mech how about . The commander jumps in his jeep and is about to rush to the site of the bombing but then remembers that IED often come in pairs and we had that nasty drone Yesterday. So he makes his way to a safe location and gets others to inform him of what just went down.***
The Brown Trousers having captured a LAV after the very first K-nuk adventure into T.Zeina had traded it to Al-Kabab.
The two groups had been at each others throats until the major K-nuk assault last week, after that a common enemy forced them to cooperate.
Al Kabab had been in these parts for a long time so the M577 may have been captured from the CofC backed factions.
The BT command cell knew something was in the planning but not the timing.
Upon conformation of the VBIED attack the BT, knowing the recovery and chaos would be in full swing orders another 8 Katyusha's from the Ksar area in to the port. Severn hit the general area.

Daytime launches have been rare but this is worth the effort.
This is my Brown trousers command cell, it is normally less than five. They tend to operate from underground tunnels but can use the shanty town or tented part of the city. Transport is by Land Rover, Limey cabs or on foot with a donkey.
Support cells (comms, logistics, advisors, planing and security etc) are nearby but connect in a very open lattice work structure with little face to face.
