Not sure who you guys are flying in, it is capitalized Fort Randolph, its a proper name. You are not granted permission to land. Stay out of Ft. Randolph airspace. Use of deadly force is authorized. Stinger teams are alerted, pull out Stingers, two Vulcan M163 are activated, Deadly Force is Authorized. Repeat Deadly Force is authorized.
Two F/A-18 E Hornets take off in search of some loud mouth who says he is flying a helo in to Randolph, Did know that the guys are here. Not sure how he found out, not public, not communicated to anyone. Security at Randolph is elevated to code 3. Could be a drunk flying his plane, but he knew about the transfer of the K-nuts.

Communication to Canadian HQ on the exchange of the 6 C-nuts, again. Always getting into trouble.
Additionally, the severely injured soldier is suitable to flight. Plan to fly these out on US MAC flight to Gitmo. Will await further requests for these fine gentlemen to be returned to Canada.

The flight does take off that evening under a clear night. The plane did need to wait for a C-5 Galaxy to land. Flight took off for Gitmo at 20:19. Then another C-5 landed at Ft. Randolph followed by 4 P-3 propeller planes.

Two P-3 landed at Ft Amador about 20 minutes later. These flights originated from NAS Jax. They had been at the rework facility. A C-5 landed behind it at Amador. 24 hours later the C-5 takes off heading northeast. Joins up with the C-5 that left Ft. Randolph 15 minutes later, continuing the northeastern direction.

The HMCS Huron has arrived at Gitmo Cuba in order to retrieve the 6 Canadian survivors held there, the Captain stepped of the ship along with the Ships medical staff to get the survivors on board as quickly as possible before they leave, the Captain thanked the base commander for looking after the survivors but kept his distance, then quickly returned to his ship and sailed back to Canada.
Even though Canada and the US are technically allies, but the ongoing dispute over Tariffs imposed against Canada has badly strained their relations, not to mention that the US has a over 200 year old grudge aginest the nation for a particular incident that happened in the War of 1812.

Capt Royal, USN, CO of Joint Base Guantanamo Bay.
"Canada seems to have a real issue or at least the Capt of the HMCS Huron does holding a grudge since the war of 1812. He must have been alive during the war. He looked it too. Gosh, he was and is UGLY!! I offered to provide lunch for him and senior staff members on the lawn of my residence. He could enjoy the same view as Tom Cruise, Demi Moore and Jack Nicholson for the move 'A Few Good Men'. But he sluffed it off. A bit rude. I bet he was annoyed he had to moor at the pilings in the harbor, so that the Huron would have deep water."
Adm Kimmel replied, "Tom, he did not want to listen to the Harbor Pilot. He could have run a ground on some of bedrock, I am sure that would be great for him, his ship and crew. Now I understand some of the issues with Canadian Navy, some of the rumors. I do not know about him or the C-nut navy, do you?"
Capt Royal replied, "as you know Adam, we had the USMC come out to provide a color guard and welcome in Dress Blues. Certainly did not provide a farewell program. He was damn ungrateful."
Royal continued, "Adam, how are the detainees doing, the hearings? Any news?"
"As you know Tom," said Admiral Kimmel, "the lawyers, JAG fly in and then need to take the last ferry across at 1630 to make the flight. Or they stay for the weekend. Can't have that you know. Then back in 2 weeks...same routine, same B.S."

(Captain): "Good the sooner we get back home the better".
The Huron will make her back way to CFB Halifax to drop off the survivors.

While acknowledging that Canada's forebears came from UK, AND France, AND native America, so did those of the United States, CANADA'S forebears did NOT burn the White House. The BRITISH ARMY, NOT THE CANADIAN ARMY, burned the White House.
This reminds me of a Brit officer showing an officer from the U.S. Army the flags in his regimental chapel. "And this is the flag our regiment captured at Breed's Hill (Bunker Hill, for the uninitiated) during your Rebellion. You'll note we still have that flag," he said, a slight haughtiness in his voice. "Yes," replied his American companion laconically, "we still have the hill."

Panama
Ft. Randolph Jungle Training Program
Yesterday, ran 1/2 marathon, 13 miles for the 183 guys, 1 still in hospital and another had high fever from living in the swamp water that previous two days.
Today, climbing trees creating sleeping arrangements in the trees to secure themselves in among the branches. Then to drop quickly and scurry back up silently. Noisy at first, got better. In the afternoon walking in the swamp water usually waist deep. Some were surprised from deeper holes. Training to observe staying away from large reptiles, Cayman gators. How to recognize signs when possible. How to go through without leaving a trace or minimal signs of presence and movement through the swamp. Leech removal, cigarettes are great. How to care for those opening prevent infection and how to address infections.
. In the evening, sleeping in the trees. Some of the guys where sleeping above others in the same tree. The night-time voiding was interesting with a fight almost occurring at 0300. Many of the guys were going after snakes. Fortunate that training on snake identification had already occurred as guys are going after snakes for a meal. Made a large group of 'snake eaters'.
. How to go after rodents for a meal is the plan for tomorrow.

The jungle training to learn how to catch, trap, hunt food is interesting to watch. The grunts as I call them, are learning. Some are natural or well trained. Those that were real hunters had to hunt for food as a preteen and teen. Just after dinner resting on a dike near the adjacent to the swamp waters. At 2200 hours ... whistles blow by the training cadre. Get your gear, you weapons, 30 minutes out.
. Guys are running to the equipment trucks. Issued night vision, new batteries, new uniforms and boots, etc. In 30 minutes the rotor blades whipping in the air is heard by the guys. The last few are getting their ammo, checking their weapons and equipment.
. Organized into ad hoc groups of 10 Rangers to ride on UH-60. Taking a 2 hour ride (in a circuitous route to Ft Wm Davis, near Gatun Lake and Gatun Locks, Panama, former US base that was handed over to Panama in 1995, that was used also for jungle training. Each team is given a mission, each helicopter landing in its location, usually in pairs. A Training NCO is with each team, who assigns team leader. The leader assigns assistant leader, along with specific roles. Scouting, intel, evaluation.
. Moving out two forward scouts determining direction, location, consulting with group leader. This group of 3 helicopters in helo groups of 11, 10, 10 men, plus the 3 Jungle training NCOs. Goal is to move to a prison camp run by evil Talon Rebels in the swamp, perhaps to rescue the prisoners, captured men of 'our' army. Plan is to move all night, trying to be in position by morning. Lay low out of sight during the day.
. The training dynamics is fluid. The 'leader' of the group will change periodically, roles and functions will change, perhaps information and mission objective may be modified.

The ROD troops appreciate the challenging training! The 2 hour chopper ride was especially welcome as it provided an opportunity for a cat nap. A seasoned soldier will always take any opportunity for some shut eye - especially a soldier who has been working his tail off in the jungle! Great work on the jungle warfare course!

As Team 7 was advancing on the enemy position going through the swamp, it was 'attacked' by a Caiman gator, about 12 feet long. The guys fired their blanks at the Caiman, it continued, went under water, surfaced again taking a bite into the M4. Guys ran or tried to run. They were found out needless to say. As they were approaching an embankment a 5 ft Caiman attacked another soldier into his leg. Fortunately, he had his KaBar out and stabbed it once. 2 other guys were next to him stabbing the Caiman, splashing as the guy was yelling the Caiman started to roll. Several of the knife thrusts did go into the belly, the back and back of the neck. It did release taking some thigh with him as he disappeared.
. The team was now transitioning to MedVac, a large corporal dropped to apply First Aid. Wrapped the wounds on the leg tightly. Cpl Osan picked up Pvt Dougs running him 1/2 click to Hummv ambulance, which in turn rushed to landing pad for UH-60 Med Vac to Ft. Randolph for full treatment.
. As the evening progressed the teams did get back into the training of attack, observe, defend, counter as instructed by Training Cadre of NCOs.
Graduation will be at 11am as they are dirty, wet, frustrated, with large celebration. There is a special entree of Caiman: roasted, Bar-B-Q, and/or in a salad.
Pvt Dougs will survive.

The ROD thanks the CoC once again for allowing our troops to attend this great training. The commanders of the 15th Infantry (airborne) and 20th infantry (Stryker) will be choppering in for the graduarion ceremony. It will also be a good chance for the commander of the 20th to meet the CoC commanders since they will soon be assuming responsibility for the ROD sector.
