3 days from the east coast of Canada to the west coast of Mauritania... Mighty fast ships Canada is building these days. Over 5000plus km in 3 days! Even making 30 knots you're only 2/3rds of the way, and those tubs won't do 30 knots 24/7, if at all. Somebody isn't doing his homework.r
Find the sailing distance from your port to your destination. Determine what kind of ship you are using. Find out its normal cruising speed in knots. Find out what kind of weather you can expect and the speed it will allow you to make. A nautical mile is 1,852 meters (That is a "knot"). Do the math to figure your tim. You can't beam your ships somewhere and they won't make warp speed.
DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS! Just ignore actually HAVING the troops and vehicles you are claiming to have. Like Soviet nuclear missiles in 1960...

Or you could just say something like "the ships arrived after a number of days at sea. It was a rough crossing slowed by weather.". No math, no research, etc. Often, your mistake is being too detailed in your story - discriminate between the necessary details and the unnecessary ones.

Maple Leaf Landing
After Traveling for days out at sea, the MV Lions Gate has made it to port to deliver the materials to the construction workers for the rebuilding effort, and for the Royal Artillery Regiment of Canada to disembark and head over to site of the attack on Canada Day to determine which direction the Rockets and the Mortar shells came from to get a positive ID on the faction responsible for this terror attack.
Meanwhile the Main HQ building and Administration Office at the Landing has been completely rebuilt, the HMCS Sliver Dart will enter port now so the Command staff can move in and setup their operations in the buildings, the 3 Other Transports and their RCN escorts is expected to arrive at the base soon, once everything is in place the main Counter Insurgency operation can began.

Here's the Offical Canadian Battleplan for our operation aginest the BT, in Mauritania
1. The Paratroopers from the Canadian Airborne Regiment who will arrive by C-130 soon. will preform a night time drop into the Ksar and T.Zeina areas to find and knock out the SS-21 Scarab Ballistic Missiles and their launchers in order to remove the threat of another Billistic missile attack on our base.
2. The ground forces will move into the Sebka and Elmina areas first to sweep the area of militants and establish a forward base to press our advance into the city. Make sure to knock out any tunnels you may find.
3. Both Canadian forces will link up on the highway between Elmina and Ksar areas, to make the big push into the raido station. where the Militants means of controlling their forces.
(What do you guys think of this plan?)

I'll bet the BT and other enemies of Canada really appreciate knowing what you are going to do. Sure makes it easier for them.

The Brown Trousers have fallen out of favor with Sheik Yer Bouti since they stopped fighting Al-Kabab and let them slip away. Because of this the Sheik is not that pleased with the K-nuks either!
YB think the BT only have a single TEL for the OTR-21 and maybe 1-2 working missiles left.
Your problem is that it is very unlikely to be in the city. Draw a 185 Km circle from Maple Leaf Landing, that is if it is in range! If the BT pulled it back another 10-100Kms it might take awhile to find it. It may not even be in the same Country for that matter.
The BT have spent the last Month or so handing out AK's, RPG's and running local training days.
Production of IEDs and Katyusha's has been ramped up and stockpiled. They have been saving them for you.
The BT have even asked for food and medical help from the approaching CofC forces in exchange for joint patrols in their part of the city.
They see the K-nuks as a more dangerous threat to their home than the CofC.
To completely remove the BT from their homes you will have to remove the local population too.

Well the BT where declared a Terrorist group by Canada after what happened last month, plus I doubt the CofC will ever side with a terror group at all, however if the CofC are near the area we are going to launch the operation, we may have to scrub the mission as we do not want our troops to encounter any of their forces on the field as it can lead to... Major Complications.

Nouakchott, Mauritania
The CoC forces have control or a lot of presence in the southeastern zone of Nouakchott after working to root out any terrorist, or those aligned with another purpose.
.
CoC and BT have been having a few patrols on Highway 14, which heads west. Further out of town it is major supply line for CoC which has a series of camps and forts the Hwy 14 corridor: Infantry, armor, 2 division command bases, fixed and rotorary wind base, logistics, and medical facilities. Do try anything, security is broad, extensive and layered, but you can if you really would like to.
. Back in town. Several joint patrols with BT setting up joint groups on foot accompanied with AFVs with helicopters on call for CoC. Some of the guys that are in BT served in the Mauritania Army forces, with a couple in the CoC. Ratel 20, 60 and 90 are primary patrol vehicle with the BT patrol.
. Last night there was a brief fire fight where one of the BT was shot in the shoulder and arm and 2 CoC soldiers from Nigeriadom were wounded. The person firing was shot by a sniper with a .338 Win round that entered the left side of the skull. It was determined that he came up to the house, the 2 ladies and the 5 kids had fled across the street and then moved further away.

With the CofC forces confirmed with the BT, Canadas counter insurgency Mission has been scrubbed. The Main command staff at The Landings HQ building are left struggling what to do now, the CofC Asked us to come here to help remove the militants, now their working for a militant group? How could such a thing happen? What is Canada's mission in Mauritania now?
