The NCSF branch is asking for an update on the NCOs training with the ROD, how are they progressing?

The New Canadian NCOs are doing well. They are still in the woods doing squad and platoon patrols. 7 of the NCOs passed their first squad leader patrol. 2 of them passed their platoon leader patrol and 1 failed his first patrol, but he will have more patrols to come.

The Light cruiser HMCS Ontario is en route to await the arrival the ROD command ship in the north pacific escorted by 3 Flower class corvettes and one Trafalgar Attack Sub Sockeye. the Ontario is carrying delegates from the New Canadian Government, they hope that a representative of Karmanaskis will accept the offer to meet at the Command ship to bring the end to the tension.

Karma-Naskis thanks the ROD for the offer of mediation, we are looking for a peaceful outcome.
The Karma Government is meeting today and defensive measures are under way.

At this time we respectfully request that you ships remain beyond 200NM from the Island. This is a short term measure until positive situational awareness is complete.

Understood. The ROD ships will remain beyond the 200nm line and we will not allow anyone on board unless all parties are in agreement for a meeting. In the mean time our destroyers and subs will try to kill each other and the crew of the Achilles will put up Christmas decorations.

Thank you for the artillery comments, PG! You can never have too much artillery! I'm working on some towed guns now. Hopefully I will have pics to post soon!

Yes we do, PG! I considered doing the squad stands that have the block of 11 soldiers all glues together, just so I could get the dismounts I needed faster, but I'm not that desperate yet. I may have to get some of those guys for change of command formations though!

I like that set because I can cut them into fours to have tank crew standing in front of the tanks for inspections and motor pool stand-to. I count my mech vehicles as being fully crewed and representative of the troops themselves. Don't buy the figures, otherwise. Diverts funding from needed vehicles. If you only buy the tracks, Goats, and Redeye jeeps, an H series mech bbc will cost you vicinity $264, plus tax. A tank bn is about the same. An H series cavalry squadron is over $300, depending on which MTOE you want. Soooo, no figure stands.

Since New Canada's military is no longer taking part in anymore operations against Al-Kabab, the NCAF is questioning about the need for Special Forces, should they continue with this method of warfare despite the military no longer going to fight a unconventional force? Or should it be scrapped out of lack of interest?

I don’t even know where to start.

Did you decide to create a social forces organization just to fight one specific terrorist group? And now that you aren’t fighting Al-Kabob are you convinced that another terrorist group won’t come along and pose a threat to New Canada?

How do you know that you aren’t going to fight another unconventional enemy? Now anybody that New Canada fights will simply revert to unconventional tactics.

Do special forces have nothing to offer in a conventional fight? Were we wrong to keep so many special forces troops in Europe during the Cold War, or did they have a role and a mission in a large scale conflict?

It’s your call. The Recondo school is about to break for Christmas so you can bring your NCOs home if you want. Or you can do a little reading.

The Special Forces role is fighting insurgents and terror groups. we tend to leave large scale conflicts to regular forces as it tends to play out like chess these days. the SF units future in our armed forces is uncertain. we will leave the NCOs at the Recondo school for reading.

If the Al Kabab in Canada raises its head, or a militia group becomes demonstratively militant, or a large, longer conventional conflict arises a special force unit of 12 guys might be helpful to get in, to blow a bridge, blow fuel location, etc. or send in a battalion to do the same job.
Guess if Al Kabab over takes capital, send in the regular army guys that just got out of ‘basic’ to storm the building, climb through air ducks, repel down elevator shaft or exterior of building.
Hire a special forces unit from another country to test to see if your defensive preparation is suitable for a threat.
