On a similar issue, why did we get the CV90/105? Neither it nor the 120mm version elicited any orders. It has not gone into production, let alone service. In contrast, there are vehicles that are or were in service, such as Conqueror, in which forum members have expressed interest. We also have several examples of German, British, and US vehicles in the '47 series which were not in production. This brings up the question of the criteria for making a model. Where is my MBT70, my General Motors M1 version, and the Conqueror. How about my ARSV? So, what determines the selection?

The staff at GHQ make the decision, as they should. It's got to be a difficult job balancing the desires of customers (as expressed in the various Wish Lists, for example), marketability, and trying to predict future purchasing decisions of various governments.

My suggestion is to continuing to express your wants and point out where errors have been made without becoming too critical.

I was pointing out, rhetorically, the disconnects. Above was a musing of sorts. I'm sure the staff has the astrological charts, the calculus, the geometrical progressions and all the spun rationale to back up their seemingly mystical choices. I will, therefor, continue to wish, hoping the stars will align. Meanwhile, can you say "3D printer?"

I think the topic of where GHQ should focus there efforts is an interesting topic. I could go either way on whether they should or should not produce certain vehicles. I am not very interested in seeing vehicles sold that were either prototypes or still on the drawing board. However, I don't have a huge issue with them producing vehicles that are ready to go into production but there are no current buyers. I realize that its a fine line, but that is my position. With that said, I feel that producing any of these vehicles, mentioned above, should be limited. The lions share should go toward filling in holes in the current lines and current military inventories..

My son just got a 3D printer and has produced an MBT70. Unfortunately it is noticeably 1/300 scale when side by side with an M1. The M1 is about 13 inches longer, We are working on a correction. We are currently working on a hood that will keep the particulates produced by the printing process under control. They know some CAD, as well. One $40 kilo spool works out to about a thousand tanks. If I get a printer, I will turn out MBT70s like sausages! Unfortunately, it took 28 minutes to print one, so we are looking at possible combat printing multipliers.
