I admire those duck carving guys. But most hunters just buy the decoys at a store now. My wife likes to make quilts. She made one while we were dating that has adorned our bed for 38 years. It is WARM!. Those old crafts are fascinating.

The kids have computer games, x-box, etc. Too easy. We grew up deprived. Hell, my cell phone has more capability than the Apollo 11 capsule computer... But I got to see that LIVE! ANNNND, I get to enjoy my little tanks rather than a collection of old plastic square boxes.I

I'm 70. New knees on the way this year, I have my eye troubles, too, but mostly fixable, fortunately.

My daughter is 10 and she enjoys "playing tanks" with me. She has her own collection, but she's not really interested in using rules. She has her own "non standard" paint schemes too.

I see your unit has received attachments from Company's A and B of the 34th "Hello Kitty" Armor Battalion.

I once thought of doing an MBT NASCAR paint scheme, but a few beers and the urge diminished.

I've been on vacations for the last couple of days and wanted to weigh in. However, doing that on vacation could have been detrimental to my well being.

In my humble opinion, the reduction of activity on this site is not the fault of the Imagination treads. The total number of imagination treads are a fraction of a percent to those that are not on the related topic. In addition, people Like Redleg, 7.62 and crisswim post tons of pictures of there vehicles and in some cases, use the imagination threads to show case there work.

The real issue is popularity of this genre of war gaming. Several people, in this thread, have touched on the reason. In part its age related. If you scan through some of the different wargame internet contributors, this very topic has been discussed in length. The Historicals, as this type of gaming is called, has seen a reduction in participation from younger people. This is especially true for Armored war gaming. Some people feel that its due to the amount of distance between when major armor warfare took place and current day. It is believed there was a spike, shortly after the gulf wars, but seems to continue to drop off. I have belong to two wargaming groups and they seem to play alot of other time periods, with armor warfare being rare. One youtuber did a whole video about how young people believe historical wargaming is for older people.

Another issue is scale. It seems that alot of people are willing to play with larger scale tanks, even though you get the parking lot effect on a table top. I have seen more games being played at larger scales with the Team Yankee rules or bolt action.

Another issue, and this is my opinion, is photo posting. You must have a site to post your pictures, so they can be posted here. This is cumbersome and with the loss of photobucket, it appears that people have stopped posting. This site, again its my opinion, is primarily people sharing images of there work. without images, less people will probably stop by. I would also argue that using Facebook and pintres is way easier than posting here with the extra step necessary.

One of the other reasons, I feel, is that lack of interaction of some post. I have seen people ask for help and receive little to know response on there post. One guy asked what color people used for Russian WWII tanks, it went unanswered. It seems hit and miss to what the group will and won't respond too.

I am not passing judgement, just giving my observation.

P.S. Fireball, sorry for the dramatic change in your situation at home. Grow strength from your kids and stay the course.
Quantity has a Quality all its own.

You know, in urban warfare in Korea, Taiwan or Japan that color scheme might actually work.

"What? They were 200 meters from you and you didn't spot them???"

Your wife's and daughters' "smalls.". Panties, bras. I know this will be difficult, because you can UNfasten a bra with two fingers in two seconds flat, but to wash 'en, you must FASTEN them to keep them from catching on each other and tearing.

Gee, Fireball, I never thought I would be discussing such things on this forum.
