The ROD Navy does have a significant number of Ticonderogas and Arleigh Burkes with the Aegis system, but this float only has Spruance class destroyers. The Aegis equipped ships are mostly in the carrier battle groups and we are trying to get our carriers back to a routine patrol schedule after a recent war so we are pulling the escorts from the Surface Combatant Force.
We have no 5th generation fighters on active duty right now, but we will have some F-35s coming online very soon - hopefully in the next week or so. We'll be activating a new carrier and her carrier air wing will have F-35 squadrons.
The current carrier air wings have 4 combat squadrons that consist of an A-6E squadron, 2 squadrons of F/A-18Cs, and a legacy squadron (either F-4S or F-14C). The F-16Cs are all in the Air Force.

1st MEU is making its first port of call today in Tokyo! This is not a training visit - no exercises or wargames this time. The sailors and Marines of 1st MEU have 2 days to enjoy the splendor of the land of the rising sun before setting sail on Tuesday morning.
Pictured here are the Perseus and Stiletto entering Tokyo harbor.

Our sailors and Marines are taking precautions to safeguard themselves against COVID-19. Plus they consume a lot of alcohol, and everyone knows that alcohol kills germs!
Last night a few sailors from the Stiletto went looking for some Harajuku girls and they though they found some, but they turned out to be Harajuku boys. There was a small scuffle, but no injuries or arrests.

Sailors and sleazy bars go together like peanut butter and jelly! At least that's what my grandfather (retired sailor) always told me!
This morning the ships of 1st MEU bid farewell to Tokyo and they slipped out of port, heading to their next destination. The ships are heading south-west along the Japanese coast.

It was still dark when the sailors and Marines reported to their duty stations. NCOs conducted pre-combat checks with their fire teams and squads. Everyone went over the plan one last time and checked their gear yet again before lumbering into AAVs and helos under the weight of their battle rattle. Tanks and LAVs were loaded onto LCACs, and more were positioned to be loaded for the second and third waves.
The calm sea was soon churning and the cacophony could be heard for miles as LCACs slipped out of the ships, laden with heavy vehicles. Amtracks splashed out of the well decks into the cold water and began to claw their way to shore. Overhead, CH-46Es ferried their lethal payloads toward inland targets as AV-8Bs attacked enemy defensive positions.
The amphibious exercise is underway!

The RPNW has formed up its first LAR group and is preparing to send this Unit over to the CAWC facility to begin training. The RPNW is moving toward bringing new units on line to increase the military capability. Current units, with active duty personnel are being broken up into new units to provide a core cadre of experienced veterans to be the foundation of the expanding forces. Retired veterans are being asked to re-enlist so that training quality can be increased for new recruits.

Off the coast of Mindanaodom, 1st MEU is launching it's operation! Marines laden with weapons and equipment clamber into Amtracks and helicopters, armored vehicles load onto LCACs, and additional troops and equipment stand by - ready to load up for the second wave.

The trip to shore seems to take forever, but eventually the Amtracks claw their way onto the sand and offload their Marines so they can find the Mindanaodom troops who are most certainly waiting for them.

Day 2 of the exercise and, as expected, the Mindanaodom troops are a clever and ferocious foe. Fighting near the beaches ebbed and flowed all day and into last night. The 1st MEU Marines never really established a secure beach head so the howitzer battery didn't even come ashore until this morning. Once it did, several M198s got stuck in the sand.
Once they were ale to get to solid ground they established firing capability, but the Mindanaodom Marines materialized out of the jungle and a vicious fight for the battery ensued.
Great training for everyone involved. The fight continues through Monday and then we transition into a live fire day on Tuesday.

Live fire in the defense of Mindanao-Dom took place 2 miles away to the east of the actual landing with 155 and 203mm rounds exploding 20 feet above the surface of the water, 10 miles away from the amphibious landing.
.
Once the landing forces were moving inland, there was a localized counter attack of 9 M-60A1, 14 M-113 and over 2 dozen jeeps. Push the flank back trying to collapse the assault.
