AMX30 is armed with a French-designed 105mm main gun, coaxial 20mm auto-cannon and cupola-mounted 7.62 mg. France, Bosnia, Qatar, Venezuela, UAE, and Saudi Arabia, among others. The 105mm is NOT compatible with NATO ammunition. During 1stGulf, the French were assigned the left flank, where resistance was expected to be light, in part because AMX30 is only protected to 20mm. There is a B2 model, depicted by GHQ.

Wait a minute.....how could you tell it was an AMX-30 from the road wheels? Is it the type of road wheel or number of them or what?

Ok, Ladies. What is the British Army equivalent of a U.S. Army task force? On what unit is it based?

I believe the Brits call their task force equivalent a battle group. It's based on a mech infantry battalion or armored regiment (battalion).

Just a side observation, everywhere I've gone in the Army I found British troops there too. Those guys are everywhere!

You are correct, redleg.

The Brits are staunch allies who generally believe their national interests are bound closely to ours. You should read "The Utility of Force.". If I could pick only one ally in the world to take on the rest of it, I would choose the Brits.

In the British Army, what is the difference between an armoured infantry battalion and mechanized infantry battalion?

I think the armored infantry battalions use tracked IFVs and the mechanized infantry battalions used wheeled.

Not sure if the staffing is different or not. I read something recently about the idea of a Universal Infantry organization for the British Army to standardize section and platoon orgaization.

Very close, Redleg. Armoured infantry use Warrior IFV. Mechanized infantry use lesser tracked or wheeled vehicles, such as FV432 and wheeled APCs.

US Army General Robert Hasbrouck, born 1896 commanded the US 7th Armored Division in the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944.
What happened to the general that is unique about him?
.
What does 'Jedburgh' indicate?

I don't know about General Hasbrouck.

Operation Jedurgh was a special operations group that was manned by US, UK, and Free French to do some secret squirrel stuff in the German rear.

Redleg,
Correct sir. Started in preparation for Normandy invasion.
.
General Hasbrouck was relived of command, then reinstated on the same day in the fight of the Battle of the Bugle.
