In the Med....
redleg wrote:Things got a bit more dangerous on the high seas today when a Sovremenny class destroyer from the Eurasian Empire Navy stopped a civilian freighter and boarded her. The freighter, a Panamanian flagged vessel, protested and initially refused to be boarded, but the destroyer fired a shot across her bow and deployed Marines in inflatables. The freighter complied and was thoroughly searched by the Imperial Marines, who inspected manifests and bills of lading on the bridge, and then conducted a physical search of the cargo holds. The crew was under guard during the search, which lasted approximately 3 hours. Once the search was completed, the ship and crew were released, and they continued their voyage east through the Mediterranean.

The Imperial ship is home ported in Libya. In reaction to the outrage of the unwarranted search, an Imperial spokesman released a statement saying that they Empire was combating piracy and terrorism in the region, and the freighter’s unwillingness to interact with the Imperial warship was suspicious and justified the boarding and search.

The Imperial spokesman went on to say that the Imperial Navy, as the dominant power in the Mediterranean Sea, has an obligation to maintain security in the region. “We rule the Mediterraneanâ€￾, he said, “and we are simply ensuring the safety of our people, and all those who sail the sea here.â€￾
.
Panama Government contacted the CoC and Monaccodom Ambassadors for a meeting to discuss the EE boarding their flagged vessel. Putting pressure on since the CoC has 3 bases that are utilized by the Commonwealth to help with keeping the EE from interfering with their flagged vessels in the Mediterranean Sea. Additionally, the EE may interfere with ships and/or commerce of the Commonwealth.
. The CoC will account for all ships that transit through the Bosporus Straights, entering/exiting the Red Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Fly overs, radar, ships following and track will be conducted of ships of EE.

Mediterranean
Report from CoC observation post opposite Gibraltar.
The EE has a small battle group that passed through Gibraltar yesterday and is steaming east through the Med. They're not messing with anyone yet, only search radars detected currently.
G-SOSUS, the Gibraltar SOSUS, the Sound Surveillance System is a passive acoustic system which detected two submarines entering the Mediterranean just after the RU/EE Task Force. A half dozen ships had been ready since the TF was detected in the Atlantic prior to entering the Med. Following the RU/EE TF are Burke DDG, two Perry FFGs, a Type 45 DDG, and two Type 23.
. Waiting half way between Sicily and Crete is a small group with FSM-2, (fire support monitor, with 6-twin 5-inch gun turrets) named Bush Hog, 2 LCS with a Harpoon, 2 FFGs. This group will sail north through the Borphorous Straights into the Black Sea.
Over the EE TF, have been a series of aircraft which every group contained an EA-6. The have also been EF-111 E Heavy bombers as B-52, etc including the B-70 Valkyrie have flown to bases further away from the Med. Many of the aircraft of the Commonwealth have moved to bunkers, including those armed with anti-ship missiles.
. In Chaikovia-Dom, (western area of Turkey along southern Borphorous coast)2 dozen D-46 have been deployed in camouflaged positions for indirect fire if the EE ships decide to pass through the Borphorous Straights while being unfriendly. 2 dozen D-30 are in direct fire hides.
Small patrol craft have loaded anti-ship mines in the event the order is given to inhibit the EE TF sailing.

Mediterranean Sea
The EE task force sailed west of Italy, a Udaloy and Slava turned north into the Adriatic Sea as the remaining ships, a Sovremenny, a Slava, a Udaloy, and Kirov and a Kiev continued east, turning 180 degrees just prior to the Aegean Sea. It met up with the two-ship group in the Adriatic. then heading west circling Sicily moving at 18 knts. The task force meet up with the two fueling ship filling up.
. As the task forces sailed, they were observed. A HALE Global Hawk was tracking receiving communication. The CoC observation group followed the main EE TF to the east and back. A type -688-I was following the larger TF as well. It came across the submarines that entered the Mediterranean Sea, an Alfa SSN and Oscar SSGN.
The Alfa escorting the Oscar. These two continued east at about 5 knots remaining very quiet.
Two F-16s, each armed only with two heat seeking and two AMRAAM Aim-120, air-to-air beyond visual range missiles, went past the combines EE task force at 800m away at 100 feet height. After circling around moving at 600 knts at 30 feet about 50 feet away from the closest ship a Udaloy. It did turn on a targeting radar but did not lock on either of the two planes. The F-16 slowed, circling around the group another times before heading south to Tunisa-dom to Tunis AF base.

Moldova
2 agents of the EE were picked up in Balti . They were speaking mixed Romanian and Russian which caught the attention of police and security. 3 more picked in the capital Chisnau. They were carrying pistols in a bar/resturant. They were observed scouting government buildings, police stations and small military. Some of their emails and calls were intercepted and translated. An-alyze the other commuication. Unable to collect any more data.
Romania
EE agents were also apprehended in Bucharest, Romania. Two died in a gun battle. One of our MPs died and 2 others wounded requiring a visit to the hospital. Four others were questioned repeatedly. Not allowing them sleep.
. IL-76 with radar dome that was on patrol in the Black Sea was target by radar, aledgedly AAA fire was shot their way as they were at 12,000 feet. Scared the crude out of the crew. Several smaller vessels were observed, e-signals evaluated.
Mediterranean Sea.
Protests were filed at the UIN for the criminal act taking a passenger liner. Fortunately it and the people were all released. Radar lock on F-16 out of Corsica fortunately there were not any SAM fired at the F-16 fly-by. 4 YAK -17 fighters did take off to meet the F-16 fly-by, but they were a bit late and they are relatively slow.
. Radio and digital communications from the EE Med Task Force are going both ways with heavy volume of traffic. Cryptologists and the computer systems were working diligently to learn intent and orders.....

The EE Naval task force has been targeting our military aircraft and also civilian air liners.
Varna, Bulgariadom is have an incremental naval buildup in port. The 2 supply convoys and 6 LST ships they all hugged the African coast to reduce chance of an encounter with the EE task force, even with escorts.

In the Med.
Near Crete, a SSN-688 detected an Alpha making noise heading east at 600 ft moving at 12 knots. The 688 detected a Udaloy to the northwest of it position. it seemed to be following it over the last few hours. The Alpha slowed down and increased depth that had detected the SSN-688 on passive sonar. U-212 detect an EE Alpha. The Alpha had detected a LCS moving at 42 knots towards Crete, Western Crete Naval Base. The Alpha plotted for the LCS, then fired a torpedo on it. The noise gave a clear position for targeting. The 688 fired upon the Alpha. It targeted the Udaloy then fired 2 Mk 48 ACAP at it. The LCS was hit and destroyed by the EE torpedo. After its sonar reported the impact on the LCS, it reported a high speed torpedo headed it way. The Alpha accelerated trying to maximize speed. A rade it lost. The Udaloy fired 3 sub-rock torpedoes at the 688. It detected the inbound torpedoes, fired 3 more sub-rock torpedoes at the 688. 3 minutes later Mk48 ACAP exploded 20 feet below the keel of the ship, the over-pressure, under-pressure and then over-pressure from the non-impact explosion broke the hull of the Udaloy, The second Mk 48 did the same ripped the hull, it sank within 2 minutes. 1 sub-rock hit the 688, the noise from that explosion and the cracking sounds brought two more sub-rocks into it. It sank too.
The losses for the Commonwealth are 1 LCS, 1 SSN-688 class. The the EE it lost an Alpha and a Udaloy,, even though one Ka-52 was airborne. It flew to the Kiev.
.
A large Amphibious task force that had been sailing east along the African coast turned north to head to the Bosporus Straight and then to Bulgaria-dom. It does have a dozen escorts and 8 logistics & supply ships. X-47 drone is providing intel to the fleet and command. Air cover with F-16 in air-to-air and A-6 in anti-ship role, accompanied by an E-2 Hawkeye.

Black Sea
A Slava Class cruiser sortied out with a Udaloy DDG south out of Crimea Peninsula hugging the eastern shore, Escort by Nanuchka corvettes. Two LCS corvettes out of Varna, Bulgaria. LCS-42 only has 6 Harpoons while LCS-56 only has 4 Harpoons since being issued to all warships the need to conserve critical weapon is essential . These 2 LCS come into long range of the EE ships. A X-47 provided information to the LCS, A X-Putin drone by EE did the same targeting the two ships. A Nanuchka fired 4 missiles at LCS-42 and a Slava fired 4 SS-N-12 Sandbox Missiles at the LCS-56. The young Lt of LCS-56 is a reserve office in the CoC Navy, hesitated to fire his Harpoons. He did fire 2 Harpoons at the Slava. The LCS radar system detected the incoming, turning further to port, to expose the air-defense weapons. The LCS fired 12 AIR-120 AARAAM missiles hitting two incoming Sandbox missiles, the 57mm gun fired round after round at the SS-N-12 Sandbox hitting one. The last SS-N-12 hit the LCS,... the expolosion cut the ship in two sinking almost immediately. Two survived that were pulled out later, one dying in route. Both Harpoons fired at the Slava were shot down by 6 SA-N-6 Grumble missiles and 4 SA-N-8 Gecko missiles.
. LCS 42 fired all 6 missiles targeting the Udaloy. The Udaloy fired 4 SS-N-14 Silex anti-ship missiles first, none had the air-borne range, but 3 AIM-120 AARAAM were fired but did not have a target as each of the income missile hit the water. A Namuchka was about 1 NM to the west of the Udaloy, it had fired its four missiles at LCS-42. The AIM-120s hit the first two missiles, The 57mm destroyed another, the fourth hit the LCS hitting the bow. Water flooding the ship. despite being at battle stations. # Harpoons were focused on the Nanuchka two which hit despite the air defense systems. No survivors. The Udaloy engaged their missiles hitting 2 Harpoon at range by the SA-N-9 Gauntlet missiles with 12 being fired. The other was destroyed by the AK-630 30mm gait-ling guns.
. The helicopter drone from an LCS was flown back to Varna as the automatic system had it fly high, The other one was lost being aboard ship when it was hit and sank.

I still have some work to do.

By International Treaty the Borphorous Straights are navigational waters. The CoC is closing the straight to EE shipping, Military are commercial. The CoC task Force is heading to Varna, Bulgaria. Do not hinder, harassment will not be accepted nor tolerated.

Petition filed with UIN.

Mediterranean Sea
East northeast ofChania, Crete (on the northwestern coast) the support ships of the EE task force were detect in same group as the Kirov, Kiev, a Udaloy Sovmenny and a Slava-Class Moskova having lost a Slava and Udaloy from air craft from the Commonwealth with Harpoons.
Weapon expenditure has been high, the older Harpoons that we acquired for the CoC are not as effective with update defensive systems. The US is making more available as the new LRASM, the Long Range Anti-Ship Missile the US is buying are coming in. The CoC will be purchasing those as well as sever companies in the Commonwealth produce components for the missile. The CoC has fired over 100 Harpoons in the last few days.
12 cruise missiles hit the western Crete Air Base and 6 hit the West Crete Air Base causing damage to aircraft, the tarmac, bunkers and radar installations. Dozen of trucks and other vehicles are smoldings on the tarmac. 6 B-70 Valkyries flying out of Americus Island each with 6 Harpoons approaching Crete from the west fire the anti-ship missiles at the larger targets. Even with the support ships in the mix the missles may have terminal guidance to target those ship vs the war ships. Out of Tripoli (Country of) in the eastern Med, north of Isreal, 16 F-16 are armed for self-defense while each carrying a Harpoon.
Tunis, Tunisadom AF base launched 8 A-6 each with a Harpoon and 8 S-2 each with 2 Harpoons. 2 Timing was planned and coordinated with communication by satellite data link.
From Crete 4 7-ton MAN Trucks arrived along the coast away from any development with security. The C4I van received the targeting information by data link, verified by the technicians and fire control coordinated for impact with the other 64 Harpoons. Each MAN truck has 4 Harpoons in the truck bed in launch position to add 16 more to the mix.
As missiles were picked up by EE satellites and the radars, the Fire Control defensive system became very active. Firing of SA-N-6, SA-N-9, SA-n-8, SA-N-20 were firing missile after missile. This is not Aegis SPY-1 system!!! Air defense missile magazines from the Slava class, Udaloy, and Sevmenny ships were emptied to save themselves and the crewmen on board. The 100mm, 130mm, 76mm guns along with the AK-630 30mm gait-ling guns opened fire. The defense systems were engaged. Of the 80 incoming missiles 38 were shot down, 6 missed from chaff, aluminum canisters to decoy the Harpoon targeting system.
7 hit the Kiirov which caused secondary explosion and more explsions, sinking her, The Kiev received 6heavily damaging the hull, superstructure, engine room and crew quarters. Large pail of black smoke ws seen for miles and miles as it rode low in the water. The Slava class sank with 4 hitting her was a burning hulk until it sank the next day. 3 hit the Udaloy, knocking her out of all action An oiler was hit by 4 Harpoons sinking the next day, whicle 3 hit the ammunition ships which caused more explsions than could be recorded. The general supply ship also sank. The Sevremenny was heavily damaged, but still making headway toward the Black Sea.
The A-4, A-7 with iron bombs were routed to the area of the ## ships. with lasers targeting bomb after bomb hit and entered the hull of the remaining ship causing fires, flooding death & destruction. Sinking all the remaining ships of the EE task force. 7 A-4 were shot down and 3 A-7 light attack planes were lost. Helicopter on rescue were have to pick up 7 pilots, although two died later. Also rescued were over 400 EE crewmen, which were taken prisnor and secured on Crete.
