Ok, the new release schedule has now been released? How did we do on this thread on influencing GHQ? The answer is : horribly! Only 6 items from our entire list made it and, except on Moderns where our top 2 were selected, none of our top selections made it on to the list.
As I stated at the very start of the thread, the idea was to see if we could influence GHQ by providing them with a more focused wish list from this forum. Clearly the answer is no so I will discontinue this thread going forward and we can revert to the more traditional wish list.
That said, I do wish to make it absolutely clear that there are lots of fantastic and quality products in the 2020/2021 Release Schedule and I strongly support GHQ, especially in these difficult times.

Putting together a new release list is never easy, and it's a very time consuming process that goes on for months. We receive thousands of requests every year, and all of them are looked at and cataloged. The new release list is never a popularity contest with the items that get the most requests automatically making the list. Obviously the items that get the most requests get more attention.
We have two eras for Micro Armour- WWII and Modern, four eras for Micronauts, two eras for our Micro Force 10mm, and we have a line of buildings. Within all of those categories we cover a large number of nations. The idea behind the schedule is to spread things around, and give as many people as possible a few things to look forward to throughout the coming year. Going into the process we know that we will never have a list that anyone loves from the top to the bottom. We are just hoping that most people will see a few items that pique their interest.
This thread was one of the things that we kept going back to, and checking the items that were added. Overall there were some great suggestions here, but there wasn't a lot of consensus on many of the items. Here are a few of the criteria that we look at and weigh heavily, along with an example, or two:
-Key equipment that is used by the major nations that we cover. (T-15 Armata, T-84)
-Bulking up some of the lines/nations that we have recently started. (South Korea- M48A5K1/K2, North Korea- VTT 323 with 122mm ATG, India- M48A5T1)
-Equipment that was made in huge numbers, and was used in huge numbers (F6F Hellcat, Lewis and Clack class)
-Equipment that is used by a lot of the nations that we cover (M48, Mi-26)
-Hitting a country that we haven't hit in awhile (TACAM R-2)
-Variants of popular equipment that we already have multiple variants, but customers continue to ask for more (T-34/76 1940, Shermans, Shermans, Shermans)
-Equipment that is large enough to be a centerpiece (Type 075 Landing Helicopter Dock)
-Equipment from nations that seem like things may be hot in the near future (K-30 Biho, M1985/M1991 MLRS)
A lot of the items that we select check off multiple boxes, and that is why they make the list.
We are getting our forum software updated on our new website (the previous developers told us that it may not be possible to do that and keep all of the existing posts), and that may help any of the threads here that have suggestions. Because of the update we will be able to directly get new members (not have to "back door" them in like we have for the last couple years), and that should bring in a larger number of voices for these threads.
Here are a few things that we have always told people about effective suggestions.
-Keep all of the criteria listed above in mind.
-Keep your list short, have at most your top 5 items. Too often we get lists that are hundreds of items. These are basically just lists of everything that we don't make. We don't even know where to begin to prioritize what those customers would most like to see us make. We always feel badly because clearly someone has put a lot of time into the list, but they give us very little direction to go.
-Provide a couple of sentences about why it would be a good choice. Don't write a book about it, just a couple of sentences explaining it always helps.
-Provide who makes it, who uses it, who used it, the different names that it is known by, how many were made, what period it was in use... This is important to give us a place to start researching the suggestion. A lot of military designations get used by multiple countries, there are different variants in use (which one would you like to see?),.. Giving us some context for your suggestion will only help it.
We will probably start a new thread that lists all of these things out on their own, so that it is easier to see and use. We just wanted to give reiterate some of the process that goes into making the new release list every year.
Thank you all very much for your support!

2020 - 2021 Release Schedule
Thanks GHQ! That is good advice on creating the wish list. I will keep that in mind when I create my new 2020 - 2021 wish list.

Re: Consolidated 1/285 Wish List
Going by GHQs suggestion heres my top 5 Suggestions for next year.
1. St Laurent Class DDH, the reason for this choice is that I had a relative who served onboard one ship of this class not sure which one he served on its ether HMCS Fraser or HMCS Skeena.
2. Modified Majestic Class Light Carrier (HMCS Bonaventure), Its Canadas third and last Aircraft Carrier Scrapped in 1971 after serving for almost 13 years it was the only one carrier in the RCN to launch Navy Jets.
3. Ether Halifax Class Frigate, or Iroquois Class DDG. I need some modern RCN ships in my fleet with missile capacity.
4. Post Cold War era Canadian Infantry on Snowmobiles (I like the looks of the 1990s model sleds better then the current ones plus im a snowmobile driver myself
).
5. Oerlikon GDF guns with Skysheild Radar FCS. (I need some modern AA guns.)

Re: Consolidated 1/285 Wish List
Great explanatory email GHQ and again thanks for listening to us! I feel like many suggestions I have voiced must’ve been echoed by others because I gradually see those pieces roll out.
I am not sure if you guys would buy into the concept of generic packs, I think for two of my personal picks you might be able to pull it off - WW2 engineers and WW2 stowage pieces. Beyond that a few of my picks include:
Italian Command Pack (WW2) - 508 CM Coloniale staff car & Dovunque Viberti radio truck/office body (4/1). Alternative to radio truck - Topolino car plus trailer - great for Africa and East front
Hamilcar Glider (WW2) - 344 built, used in June 44 in France and then in September during market garden
Sdkfz 253 (WW2) - 295 built and used through 43, observation vehicle used for artillery, good piece for war gaming...

Re: Consolidated 1/285 Wish List
Alas, some of my favorites I picked for purely aesthetic reasons. I thought they would make very good looking, diverse, interesting additions. But it seems "unique look" is not one of the factors GHQ has been using!
The Alligator ferry vehicle especially. So unique, so interesting.. perhaps I will never see it made, as it seems a little off the mark for their criteria.
On the other hand, it is in the lineup of two nations GHQ covers extensively, the UK and Germany, as well as several others, so maybe there is hope.
I will keep it when I make a new wish list!

Just a reminder - this is not the current wish list thread - please use panzergator's 2020-2021 Wishlist.
