Military budget 2020

Post by nashorn88 »

I decided last you to track military spending.....lol
OMG eye opening

I spent north of 6
1.5 of upkeep ( paints, basing, tooling etc)
.5 on info ( books, etc)
4 on new troops

75% on micro armor.
95% on used site for new or used armor
5% on OEM site
25% on others ( 28mm etc)

Sold military surplus 1-2K
Usually if I buy in lots I keep what I want and sell the rest.
Sold older armor to upgrade.
Maybe another 3-4 k in the blackops fund....lol

Anyone else track?

Interesting question. I just checked what I spent in 2020.

$600 Overall
$300 on new GHQ models
$200 on paints and supplies
$100 on reference material.

Cama wins.

My budget this year was tiny due to agreement with the lovely Czarina of finance and all things happy at home. With the financial uncertainty of the two month shutdown here, I only bought paints and some decals and focused on painting existing supplies to lower the metal mountain a bit. 800 minis later (mostly Battletech and Legend of the 5 Rings) I'm almost done so 2021 will have first new minis in a while. All depends on how the year goes and how much stimulus money we see.

2020 budget about $200 in all supplies.

Yes, and I think I spent more on hobbies this year, than ever before, due to COVID. No vacation, no commuting (working from home since March), barely any restaurant or cinema visits, no sports away games etc... so there was budget and time to spare.

It amounts to around 800-900€ for wargaming (mostly GHQ 1/2400 WW2, GHQ 1/285 Bundeswehr and 1/2400 shapeways) and paint and about the same amount for comics and slot cars. (so ~$2000 in total)

I did get tons of wargaming models painted and based this year, although I must confess that I cheated a bit. I had ~380 1/2400 warships sitting here and I made the promise not to order any more, until I had at least half of them painted and based. This lasted until November, when I painted ~25-30 submarines in one session, to get me over the 50% threshhold...the fleet has been expanded by ~100 ships since then. :)

I’m also focusing on painting up the navy the last quarter of the year.
So far I believe I’m on track of finishing 100 ships. Ok bunch of destroyers.
Found a trick painting deck and sides.
You must use a airbrush for this to work.
One of the all in one for nails on eBay works.
Spray the tops 1st
When it drys then spray the sides by holding the ship top down and spray at a downward 45 degree.

But I pickup a few hundred of new ships so kinda spinning my wheels.

Gee.... now I’m embarrassed.
I spend like the US or USSR on my military.
