Hey Tom.

First off I have to tell you - your terrain is beautiful! Makes me wanna redo some of mine! - Well done! Goop pics too!

For removal of the sprue, I use a variety of tools including the ones mentioned in your post but by far the easiest (read least damage to my thumbs) is with a set of flush cut nippers. Leave a little for the x-acto blade and mini files otherwise the nippers may damage the detail. Also flat and curved toenail clippers work well. Generally I do not remove the sprue under LMGs but it can be done if desired with 1/32 or 1/64th drill bits, an x-acto or dremel and a steady hand!

:D What a great start to my Sunday to see your pics!
Great job! The Sherman looks especially good with the fuel streaks and weathering. The pictures are very good too, good depth of field! Very nice work! What camera are you using?

Nice models and pictures MKK!

German armour is the hardest to paint! I am still fiddling around to find an easy to use system for painting them. Should you wash before applying camoflauge or after, should you highlight the camo or not. Am finding it pretty hard to obtain results that dont look too overworked.

This is a King Tiger I painted today in a scheme for Belin 1945.
This one has turned out pretty well probably because the camo is so limited.

Thanks guys.

JB,
I wish GHQ made this very common D-Day AFV, but they don't. I cut off the barrel lock from the front of the hull, and removed the "stowage" off the back of the hull. The British 75 turrett has the old-style gun mantlet, but there were several D-Day M4A1s that had this turret, so no problem. I just received the C&C M4A1s (which have a putzy little Culling Hedgerow device on the front), and they are nice models, but don't match the scale look of this style of GHQ conversion.

Troy,
First, I must say that I'm a big fan of your work; I check your site frequently. I don't use enamel paints, so I don't use your popularized painting method--though your results are great!
Regarding the camera, I asked my wife for a digital to photograph my micro armor for my birthday. She abliged with a great piece of hardware. It's a Nikon Coolpix 4800 4 megapixel camera with an incredible 8.3x optical zoom. It can tollerate an incredibly short focal length--you can get the lense just a few centimeters from the subject and take a nice in-focus picture. I get my best photos in natural light out in the back yard.

Best,
Kevin in Alberta.

Pushbike,

I always paint the base coat, wash, drybrush and weather before applying a german camo pattern. Then, afterwards, I apply the decals and then just a little bit of light weathering to finish it off. That's advise if you use water-based paints. I don't know what the enamel guys do.

Pushbike,

BTW, your King Tiger looks a hell of a lot better than the ones I did! Congratulations. Did you get the camo scheme out of one of the Concord books, or someplace else?

Yes well spotted
it is based on new Dragon diecast {same company as Concord}
I find 1/35 1/72 models are a 1st rate source for colourways and information.

Not quite up to the same standards as some others, but I am making progress.

Ferret,

Sweet models! Hey, I see you're from Northern Virginia. I used to live down I-29 in Charlottesville. There used to be a great game club at UVa...any idea if it's still there?

Wow, that's all some mighty fine work you all have going on there. Now, if I can get to that kind of quality, I'll be one happy camper.

I'm currently transitioning from 1/35 to 1/285 for tabletop wargaming and I must say that my work on the 1/35 scale doesn't seem to come close yet to what you can do on a much smaller scale.

Regardless, I'll see if I can post some of my work once finish up some of my units that I have on hand. When though, is still subject to debate.

NOTE: I might even see if I can get some pics of my 1/35 scale stuff just to show what I'm transitioning from.
