Thanx guys. All of a sudden, I look around ... I have a bunch of trucks. In reality, an army would have 10 times as trucks/soft skins as armored fighting vehicles. Is that ratio correct?
Thank you.
Chris,
You know the age of your trucks is prototypical. At least it was in the Marine Corps in the 80s. On one of the Marine pages that I belong to it was being asked how old was the oldest item of gear that you had been issued was. One guy responded that he was in Motor T and that in 1986 he had to draw a new deuce and a half. He was issued one with a 1962 build date with 3 miles on the odometer.
The Armata really is a big machine. Quite a change for the Russians, who have a lot of small armored vehicles. Here a few new Armatas pose with a much smaller vehicle, the 2S9 air droppable fire support vehicle.
They both have the same size crew!!!
Quite possibly, in lieu of spare road wheels, an Armata crew could simply strap one of these to the back. "Dammit, there goes the engine... break out the spare, Ivan!"
