Love those ships but I’m really intrigued by your ghost squadron! How many more are you making? Such a nice job in those warships!!

Thanks Red, thanks Burt. I’m making a total of 12 more aircraft. The Vals and the Zeros are painted, I need to decal them. Then I’ll need to build the four Kates.

Re: Bills stuff
Wait a minute....when you say decal aircraft you're talking about aircraft not in the recent pics of the carriers right? You're not putting decals on 1/2400 scale planes are you?

Lol, oh god, no, I’m not that crazy! The 1/350th aircraft on the previous page.

Re: Bills stuff
Here's the Zekes for the Midway display, 1/350th scale. I'm not overly happy, not my best effort. I screwed the pooch on the canopy framing and I accidentally put tail codes for Akagi on all four when I was decaling, but I guess the plus is nobody will be seeing them from any closer than 6 feet. My heart really isn't in this, I kind of wish someone else in the club would have volunteered to paint these since I painted all the ships, and American planes. Oh well, I finish the Kates and Vals, so I can go back to working my other projects. I hate building on a short time line, it makes it less of a hobby and more like a job.

Vals are finished.

The four Kates are painted, I should be able to start decaling them starting tomorrow.

Re: Bills stuff
Your Akagi tail codes for all would be correct for the models. Her aircraft had one red stripe on the fuselage. Kaga had 2. Soryu and Hiryu had blue stripes, Zuikaku and Shokaku had white.

Thanks Polish, thanks Chris.
Hussar, thanks for that, I didn’t even bother looking that far into this time, read farther up, I’m a little ‘miffed’ about this project. I did change the tail codes on the Vals. Goes to show, take your time and research. The aircraft are Hasegawa 1/350th, they provide the tail codes, and the directions for which carrier they go too, but they only provide red stripes, so it never occurred too me. I guess now I can save some time on the tail codes on the Kates.

Thanks Burt, I’ve hit the age I have to take my glasses off for certain things. Lol. I also have a jewelers loupe I can hang on my glasses. I don’t have the B-17’s. The only 1/350th B-17E’s I’ve found are 3D printed, and they don’t look that good, so I used GHQs to make a stand as a marker. It’s the same issue with the B-26’s. L’Arsenal makes really nice 1/350th PBY’s, I just haven’t gotten around to getting any yet, it’s an army of two working on this, lol.

Thanks Red.

The Kates are decaled, just some minor stuff to do, like setting solution when they are dry all the way, canopies, props and basing. They should be finished tomorrow, then I can finally get back to my other stuff. In fact, I already have some rebs and a Dragon Wagon primed, I can finally finish Randy the foot sergeantand HMS Royal Oak, and I've been dying to start a 28mm samurai, and maybe a viking.
