Re: Bills stuff
What? You have to build them too? That's got to be a magnifier / tweezer kind of job!

Re: Bills stuff
Tomorrow I’ll be posting pictures of my newest completion, I have a few odds and ends to finish up. Here’s a few clues, it’s a brick building forever attached to military history, and at one point had a sign stating that anyone found using firearms would be prosecuted. If anyone guesses it, you’ll get a hearty cyber pat on the back.

Evergreen Cemetery Gatehouse at Gettysburg.

The model is from Cracker Line, it consists of five main pieces of resin with a few small metal parts. Its overall an excellent kit, there were some minor voids in the resin from air bubbles from the casting process, a few of them in some inconvenient spots that required putty and reshaping with a file, but nothing that was a show stopper. I opted to leave a few of the voids, I felt like they looked like a little minor 'battle damage'. While I wouldn't say this is for a beginner, if you have some experience working with resin, its pretty straight forward, and of the very few kits of this significant building, its by far the best, so hats off to Cracker Line. My only regret is this scale is too small to make the sign that says "All persons found using firearms on these grounds will be charged with the utmost rigor of the law".

Very nicely done, Bill! Eventually I will get around to painting some of my 10mm Civil War troops but right now I am in the middle of painting up some Cold War era infantry. I really do enjoy seeing your work.

Thanks a lot Pete, when you start are we going to be locked in a Civil War war? Lol. Did you ever order Cracker Line or Good Ground minis? If you did, what do you think?

Hi Bill! I have not yet ordered any Cracker Line or Good Ground minis. I will definitely look into it when I get ready to do my own Civil War armies project. I have lots of GHQ but these would give me even greater variety in poses.

Yeah, that’s why I branched out too. The more poses, the more ‘heat of combat’ look you get. Their minis for the most part are indistinguishable in size, once in while, an odd Cracker Line guy looks like he has gigantism, or a blob face, but I think the guns are fare more detailed, and I love the paper flags over the paint it yourself flags. But over all, I think all three lines compliment each other really well, and they all have bits that fill in the pieces that are missing from the others that make the chaos that was Civil War combat. I really want to get Cracker Lines new Thunder on the Mississippi gunboats. After I finish the Army of the Potomac and the Army of Northern Virginia for Gettysburg, I want to build up the orders of battle for Shiloh.
Thanks Red.

Some more Confederates, I tried a new dull coat, Humbrol Acrylic, and I'm soooo less than impressed, actually, I should have tried it on a scrap model first (rookie move). I gave the soldiers a couple light taps and that's all it took to make them look like they got snowed on. Thankfully it was only one stand, and no decals were involved, lesson learned.

More Confederates

And a disordered marker. This poor yankee took a minie ball to the face.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks Pete, thanks Chris. I was watching a Euro 2020 match while I was taking pictures, hence the building to block the glare from the TV, lol. I’m switching it up from infantry, next I’m painting a stand of Federal cavalry, and a mounted officer.
