This really goes to all who have posted pictures on this thread. I'm seriously impressed by everyone's minis. I've been away from micro armor for twenty-five years at least. Last Christmas, my sons (college types) presented me with GHQ's USMC Combat Command. This is now mid March, & I'm still painting my vehicles, haven't even touched the infantry, except to try to convert Stingers into SMAW's. All of the pics I've seen make my attempt at this seem paltry by comparison.
You all do great work, and should be proud. Thanks for the insperation to keep on trying.

I have been gaming with GHQ models since the early/mid 1970s. I started with some
friends of my same age, didn't know squat about gaming cons, and never really fell in
with a crowd of regulars who knew much about the hobby. So it was home-grown
skills for me.

It was kind of an on-again / off-again hobby, as things like college, moving, new jobs,
and starting a family all drew away lots of attention. But I kept coming back to it, and my
collection (and my skills) continued to grow.

By the mid 1990s I had managed to reach a plateau in my painting skills. I was doing OK
on detailing my tanks -- tracks, spare tracks, tools, engine grills, and the occasional
national insignia were all getting painted pretty well. My infantry was getting based, and
depending on how much effort I wanted to put into them they were getting guns painted,
and flesh-toned faces and hands. But that was about it.

Then I found this forum about 16 months ago. My skills, and the quality of my figures,
have taken a substantial leap since then. I had visited and read Ritter's excellent site a
couple times over the past few years, but it was the discussions, and the desire to post
some pics here, that really propelled me to try out some of the more advanced
weathering techniques on my vehicles. Boy, I sure do like the results!

The flocking of infantry bases, and the painting of helmets (critical!) and boots also came
from the discussions on this site. And they too make a tremendous difference in the
appearance of the units!

Adding figures to the open-topped vehicles also came from this forum. So too was the
addition of the camo netting. Note, in the picture of the U.S. force, that the M18 Hellcat in
the background is NOT weathered, nor does it have a crew... YET! I have a company of
M18s that are still in the state of my "prior art", awaiting upgrading. Along with several
battalions of moderns, such as Soviet/Russian T-80s, T-72s, T-62s, T-55s, BMP-3s, BMP-
2s, BMP-1s, BTR-80s, BTR-60s, BTR-152s, BRDMs, engineering kit, 2S1s, 2S3s, 2S9s,
2S20s, USMC M1A1s and LAVs, and miscellaneous Chinese and Yugoslavian kit. Oh,
and infantry to go with all that, of course!

Not to mention the Work-In-Progress box, and the Not-Yet-Begun-But-Someday box,
which between then have over 30 "line-items" each of inventory!

I've had more fun with this hobby since finding this forum (and spent more money!), than
I can remember in over 30 years of doing micro-armor!

So ... paint away. Look, discuss, and learn. And then take some pictures and post 'em
up! We love to see 'em, you'll be challenged to do better, and you'll enjoy the hobby more!

Here are some pictures from a game in January put on by pmskaar. There are a few othe rpics from the event mixed in. Basically, a local group put on a mini con here in Tucson about a week after I moved here.

Hope you don't mind that I linked-in a few more of your shots! Man, pmskaar's stuff should be an ad campaign for GeoHex! The roads, the river, and the hills ... how they abut perfectly from hex to hex and run across the board. Just superb!

And of course, the models look great too!

Here's a look at the Panthers in question. They're on overwatch for a column of Panzer grenadiers!

Here's another group of panthers.

The buildings are scratch built using 1mm thick styrene sheet stock and buiding images printed out on paper and cemented to the styrene. I found the images on French real estate websites and opened the image under Microsoft Paint. Used the copy and paste feature to "build" the house front, back and sides. You just have to be sure the image from a website is a straight-on shot. Here a pic of a Normandy farm.

Thunder. Thanks very much for taking the pictures of our game down in Tucson. Some really great shots there. I will be doing another game here in the Phoenix area on March 25th assuming I can get back from Oakland by Friday. That's what I'm planning anyway. If any of you are in the Phoenix area at that time feel free to come by Imperial Outpost games for a look or to play.
Mk1 - Thanks for the very kind words about my terrain. One point is that if it is a promotion for GeoHex then the folks here at GHQ may get miffed since it is actually their product which is Terrain Maker that I use. I do, however, very much appreciate your comments.
Mike G - Your terrain and vehicles look great. Keep up the good work.
