Thanks for that info - that would be the perfect size for my projected games.

A quick little game I set up as a refresher for the Fire on the Waters rules I use for WWII naval.

The USS Livermore, USS Gwin, the light cruiser USS Richmond and USS Bagley patolling near Savo Island.

The Japanese approach- The light cruiser IJN Sendai leading the destroyers Kagero, Akitsuki and Shiratsuyu.

Rounding the northern end of Savo.

The columns converge, but due to the murky darkness, they are still unaware of the other's presence.

As the range closes, the first vessels sight each other.

The USS Richmond is illuminated by a star shell and takes a 5" hit to the funnel, slightly reducing her top speed.

Sendai is bracketed by several salvoes, but no hits.

The Japanese turn to pass the US column on the opposite heading as the US destroyers launch torpedoes at Sendai. (I was using the glass beads to remind myself which vessels were in visual range)

The Sendai and Kagero take some hits, including a dangerous fire in Sendai's after magazine.

Richmond and Bagley receive multiple hits but escape with light damage

BABOOM! Sendai's magazine fire becomes a moot point as one of Richmond's 6" shells detonates Sendai's starboard torpedo tubes.

Kagero and Akitsuki launch some Long Lance torpedoes trying for some payback.

Kagero is lit up with a flare and endures a storm of fire. The damage, however, is minimal.

As the Americans maneuver to keep the Japanese in range, Richmond is illuminated and subjected to Japanese fire. She narrowly escapes Sendai's fate as a hit on her torpedo tubes destroys the mount, but does not explode the fish.

The moment of decision. The Japanese torpedo spreads intersect with the US battle line.

Oh, the shame! The targeted vessels escape without damage. Poor Bagley eats one of the torps meant for Richmond and is blown in half.

The Japanese turn tail for Rabaul. Last blood goes to the US Navy as a 6" shell destroys X turret on Siratsuyu.
The rules were as fun as I rememeber, although I have a few ideas for streamlining the turn sequence. It's got my blood up for some more naval action so expect a few more games soon.

We played a really fun 2 part Greece 41 game a while back that involves some Royal Engineer trying to knock out some bridges in the face of the German invasion in April.

We even had some folks 500 miles away in Florida following the game through text and photos.

Hi Mark Luther
That is another really eye popping and informative AAR. You have done an excellent job once again. I really do like the Mediterranean buildings and your work on them. Have a great day!

The eye to detail -- the terrain ... the models ... the scenario(s) ...
This is like 360 degree wargaming. MLuther puts on a quality event from every angle!
