PREFER CLOSED CARGO AREA!!
One reason I like enclosed cargo area in the back of a truck is the vast majority of the time I paint the truck and the canvas coving over the cargo area. If I want a flat-bed I cut the canvas off, glue styrene down. But when trucks are open top in the cargo area, either I exclude that vehicle, minimize the purchase of that item. Then I need to make a cargo (Harpoon missiles, tow-crane, ATACMS, or a kitbash) of some sort.
Here are a couple of bases using a hotel room card after primed black, vehicle and trailer glued down.
I used styrene for the trailer arm which I glue to the back of the truck. Especially if using then plastic, it’s more sturdy.
The first picture is using primed thin plastic.
These two are based on room key cut to an estimated CM width. I typically cut angles. I will paint black around the base.
Edges are Painted black, still drying.
